I have this partner, hell bent on wanting to repost article content from our site to medium.com.

I've been out of the SE game for quite awhile, but I'm concerned that could result in some bullshit penalty; even if we do wait until Google has indexed ours.

Logically I'd think not, just because Google knows we were the original source of the content, but I do not want to fuck shit up when the site is beginning to gain traction.

Pros / cons? Do it / don't do it?

What's your long term goal? Keep or flip?

Try it out with a few articles. Backlink to your site (main page or the article page) at the end of the article.

Analyze both the traffic your site gets from medium.com and your site's rankings for a few months.

That will tell you whether it is worth it or not.

Thanks.

Yeah, long term is keep.

Medium is a good platform if your article is really great. You can get more and more visits, when the article got viral on medium.
At the end of the article give credit to your site.
In between the content, on some keyword phrases you can give the reference link to the related web page or blog post page.
