Hi, I need a lawyer that can check a leadgen website that I run for legal holes. I need to make sure everything is bullet proof and that I can't be sued/am in my right.

Anyone can recommend a lawyer or another party that is skilled and specialized in doing that?

Wow - this is the first "I need a lawyer" post I've seen on WF that doesn't follow with "because I'm being sued/because someone hasn't paid me/because the FTC are gonna rape me."

Congrats on actually having some foresight :)

Which jurisidiction do you need a lawyer for? I know a good one, but she's UK.

It's for an offer I'm running in the US (I live in the Netherlands myself).

Also, quick availability of the lawyer would be a big plus.

I guess that's why nobody is responding.

Nobody ever hires a lawyer here? I thought this would be a pretty relevant forum to ask a question like that in.

Most any business / contract attorney would be able to help you out i'm sure. There are plenty you can find online. It is common practice that if they can't or won't help you out to send you to someone who likely can.

Hire the $500+ an hour lawyer. Seriously.

The $200 an hour lawyers will just screw things up. And end up charging you more because they don't what they are doing and bill more hours.

Hit up the local law firms with emails to the senior partners. Two paragraphs to explain the situation.

If you ever get sued, and the other party knows you are represented by a senior partner of a good law firm, it's amazing how fast things cool down.

Heh, you're paying for the view with the $500 an hour guys. It's not as much about the rate as much as it is whether you feel comfortable working with them. I know plenty of guys that charge that and I wouldn't trust them to babysit my cactus.

With that in mind, maybe I should raise my rates :-D

As mont will tell you, there is no such thing as bulletproof. There's always one or two bat shit coocoo yoyo's who will go after you because you pissed in their cheerios after they jacked your LP and you sent them a DMCA takedown. However, there is a lot you can do to ensure you're in the right with everything as far as the FTC and state AG's go.

I agree with this. My dad is a successful trial attorney and is respected among his peers. The biggest thing he comes into contact with is that people expect to be represented for free. If you want representation, you are going to pay for it but good representation doesn't have to be an outlandish price.

Choosing a lawyer based on how much they charge per hour or retainer minimums is kinda like the mentality of going computer shopping and buying the most expensive one you find because you think its the best, when really its probably far from it.

Its more about reputation, their history of accomplishments, and area of understanding.. because if they don't know your area of interest, they'll charge you the time it takes them to research it and they also may not know all of the loopholes you're concerned about. I also take in their personality into account. Because I want a lawyer who can come off like a puppy but transform into a shark when need be. But that's just me, you need to go about figuring it out for what you need.

Why not just take the average Internet marketer route? Run the SHIT outta it until you get in legal trouble!!! Then disappear to a nice beach for several months!!!

j/k nice proactive approach. more affiliates should do this...
