I'm buying a new phone tomorrow, and I need some advice. All I've got right now is my shitty ass Chocolate. I want a smart phone, but I'm not sure which one.

I'm thinking:
iPhone
Blackberry (but which one..?)
EnV Touch
Palm Pre (but I've heard some bad shit about it)

Any input?

i'd recommend an iphone if it wasn't on shitty AT&T. worst network ever. I hope they come over to verizon, and it's more likely when both AT&T and Verizon switch to LTE for their network type. the iphone is worth it as a device for the apps. I've used G1 and the android, but my complaints are:

1. not as refined or intuitive as the iphone
2. the base network in the USA is t-mobile, another shit carrier with horrible signal except in california.

verizon is easily the best network in the USA, and you can get past any kind of locking of the phone with bitpim, but the enV touch is just a regular phone, not a smartphone. if you need a smartphone and want good signal, blackberries are great, but so are several of the windows mobile devices if you can get good hardware speed.

The iPhone is worth every dollar you put into it. I can't share the statements of shitty ATT, I guess it just depends where you live.

I will say you can do nearly anything with an iPhone, which is more than you can say for other "smart" phones.

I live in a fairly rural area, ant AT&T is always dropping on my friends. Even in downtown Atlanta, the buildings were causing interference or something, because in the dead center of the city they had no signal (as in, it would register 4 bars for a short time, then go to searching for signal for most, and back and forth, never enough to make a call or do data), but I had perfect uninterrupted signal. it's just the nature of the type of network, GSM is not good with penetration of walls.

verizon just has coverage...everywhere. especially with the alltel buyout

Get an iphone and just crack & jailbreak it. As long as your carrier uses SIM cards, you'll be good to go. I have mine running on T-Mobile and rarely have issues with it.

I moved from US Cellular to ATT which was a good move. ATT seems like they keep expanding, I get perfect reception pretty much anywhere in this secion of Wisconsin. They are also bring the 3G to Green Bay and Appleton so their putting some time into this area.

There's very few places where I don't get good reception (like a couple bars I frequent) but besides that it's all good.

Doesn't this invalidate the warranty, and make any phone insurance policies invalid?

Iphone = no multitasking.

I'm thinking about the HTC Touch Diamond 2, though I could change my mind at any minute....

:R:

Yeah probably...but I don't give a shit. I got a nice used one on ebay and unlocked it. It takes a whole 10 minutes to do. If it breaks or I lose it..fuck it, I'll just get another. I only paid $175 for first generation a year ago.
