how likely is it that they will see the tweet that you send them?

Does Twitter have an automatic spam filter which might make it unlikely...?

default Twitter accounts will send the user an email with subject "blah... (@blahblah) mentioned you on Twitter" so yes they will see that probably.

If the user you mention logs into their acct and goes to http://twitter.com/#!/your_activity , they will see the tweet you mentioned them in. doesnt matter if your accounts are friends.

if you are trying to spam out 100 or 1000s of @Mention tweets a day then LOL have fun w that one! Twitter is ruthless for no0bs like yourself.
