Ubuntu Linux - Linux

You're right. And they also have evolution mail installed. Shit, we're ripping them off at $20.

Or this

Got 150 Kubuntu Live CD's in my cupboard in case anything goes wrong...

Yeah but they list it can take up to 10 weeks, when we want something or your Windowz crashes we fucking want it right now.

A store version, even though it's $20, is still good for Ubuntu because theres still a heavy general consensus that Linux is only for geeks. in other words, its not user friendly at all. Example one of my good friends went to school for IT and worked a bit with Linux and when I told him that I'm running it he thought I was crazy, because back then it was not easy to use.

I'm sure many people would never think of changing from their windows boxes to a linux box if they never saw that. Even then I'm sure there is a bit of hesitation. However it helps the cause.

Do you use wine? I have a huge dependency of many applications that only run in Windows but want to make the switch. Are there any known issues with wine such as some apps that don't run well with it?

I had problems trying to run wine on Ubuntu dapper a couple months ago. It seemed unstable, and programs would crash after being open for too long. My solution was installing windows xp on a seperate partition on that pc.

Yeah, I'll agree that it will help get linux seen to people who don't even know what linux is. However, I got my CDs via shipit and since I only ordered a small amount of CDs, I ended up getting them within a week.

Then there was another time when I ordered around 150 of them, and it took a month.

not all program work well with wine and performance might suffer..you can either install window on another partition (dual boot) or use virtual machine (check vmware.com)

iphone/ipod touch can't be sync using ubuntu (you could get it work,,but it take times and u need to jailbreak it) atm
