I am having alot of visitors to some of my sites through SE traffic but my click thru on adsense or affiliate offers is dismal to say the least. I just hate wasting the traffic that I am getting. I have moved banners changed offers to no avail. All offers are above the fold.

What is an acceptable click thru rate? I am getting only 3%.

How can you optimize to have adsense deliver more targeted advertising?

3% isn't bad but it depends on the niche
in my experience the older the audience the easier it is to get a higher ctr
I'd say keep testing different positions and colors until your head turns blue

3% is alright, some get much less than that and then others get more. It's best to keep testing and try and know your visitors. Also are the ads blended into your content and you say that your Adsense and offers are all above the fold. This could make your site look as if it is just a page full of ads to your visitors which may actually loose you traffic.

For content sites 3% CTR isn't bad at all. It all depends on how you place the ads. My sites get only about 1-2% but my landing pages get +10% CTR.

Recently i tried to place a 328*280 box inside my blogposts and CTR jumps to 4% immediately !

As you can see from yozshura experiences, that is why testing the ads in different places is a good idea. If your clickthru rate doubles then that it your earnings practically doubling.
