I am interested in a domain broker to take my domain requests and go out to the different markets and locate what I need and execute sales.

Basically I want to outsource my domain needs so I do not have to spend time becoming an expert here.

Any recommendations? PM or comment here.

Thx,

My thoughts are that domaining is a business where the middle men require that their customers over value domains. This is different in the case where we have businesses selling to businesses like they would real-estate holdings. The money in domains is in developing, just like real estate. But unlike real-estate, the amount of possible domains are infinite, but land is very finite. So if you get a "domaining expert" they most likely are going to be shifting below reg-fee domains onto you.

Thats ok if you developing them and working them up, and if they are highly keyword relevant to your unique creation. But if you are thinking that the domains themselves will be worth something on their own, then I am afraid, no body can do that for you, given the interests in the industry.

My two cents.

Thanks Iso

I have talked to several domain companies and have not gotten a good rep I guess or they focus on whale hunting, the 6 & 7 figure sales. I am not sure.

Basically I am looking for 2 things:

1. Old domains of a keyword type, for SEM purpose. They do not need to have to be great domain names for the SEM's to like them and assign value for the age.

2. Domains of a keyword type that have traffic. I know domainers have tons of parked domains and the goal is to sell them...I jsut cannot get anyone to say, "these domains (of your keyword type) get this many clicks a day and I will sell for $$$".

My hope was that I could find someone to outsource my domain research needs to and develop a relationship with for all my domaining needs....as opposed to do it myself or offload to an employee.

My ultimate goal of this thread is to see if such a person exists before I take matters further into my hands. Domaining does not seem to be rocket science, but like anything, it takes time to master the ins and outs, develop good relationships and know all the tools and tricks of the trade.

What price range domains and what % commission you paying? There are a lot of reputable domain brokers but you need to provide more information.

Those are good questions and we do not have specific answers because I have no idea the going rate for our needs. I can speak to our needs and then maybe you or someone can clue us in on industry standards or pricing, besides somethign is worht what you can get someone to pay for it.

1. Per our #1 above...I need an old domain for SEM. I am not needing a super sexy name that is going to cost a lot fo money, just something old and related to my keyword. I am sure the range would depend on the keyword as well, but high and low priced.

2. I know domains wiht traffic are usually parked and that traffic monetized some way, usually by selling off the click. I want to buy a domain getting traffic in our keyword genre and then monetize it with our product. I am sure I can pay more per click than the person who has it parked...the key is what multiple? Is there a market for domains that get traffic or is everyone just waiting to hit the lottery and own a domain that someone else will want really bad some day?

I am way open to education here.

Thanks,

Some big domainers do not typically sell their domain names and are in it for the traffic monetization via PPC parked pages.

I personally don't think an "old" domain will make a huge difference unless you are going to quickly 301 all the old links and try to keep those rankings. I don't know how hard that is or how effective.

There are 2 types of traffic a domain itself can get. Either type in, direct navigation traffic, or traffic from the old expired web site. Type in traffic is much more valueable and the domain will command a premium. Expired traffic is short-lived but can be substantial and help jump-start a new web site.

You have to have some specific examples or price ranges though. Look at recent sales on sedo.com or search google for recent domain name sales.

Is the traffic data and age of the domains easily available? Where do you recommend finding credible information on those? I will do some research and then come back with what I am looking for...heck the price and traffic might let me know if my plan is doable based upon the domain price vs. traffic vs. time it would take to turn profitable on my conversion assumptions.

traffic estimates are available using private 3rd party tools that actually show historical type in estimates from different sources, or free tools like compete.com can show a general traffic estimate but not accurate. Nothing will be accurate unless you have access to the analytics from the domain owner.

paid search benefits from a good .com domain name too so you have to factor that into the value of the domain. You should be able to get cheaper paid clicks with a premium domain.
