Internet Censorship.. How Would It Change The Game

Dirtbag and known c0cksucker Jay Rockefeller has been working on censoring the Internet and developing an "Internet killswitch" in case of war... what I'm wondering is will this ONLY censor and take down government, banking and other sensitive sites or are we talking EVERYTHING?

This would be a complete game changer for all of us if the Internet changed in this way, anyone staying current on this? what u guys think?
 


That internet2 video is at least a year old; the plan is not for it to be the 'new internet.' The types of problems it is used for(massive number crunching) require 100,000s of CPUs. Right now, smaller systems of this type are not connected together with ethernet cables because the bottleneck imposes too many limitations; it's more like the boards are hardwired together at the level of the ATA controllers, so you could only have so many at any 1 location.

The internet2 infrastructure allows machines at a distance to communicate at (in the least) the same speed as the CPU-HDD interaction on a modern PC. Some aspects of it may eventually creep into the consumer market (they also use it for teleconferences), but it is primarily used by researchers to test out high-performance distributed systems.

Also, the only real 'killswitch' would be an EMP that destroys all electronic devices.

Thanks for the info. I did some research on wikipedia and a lot of it is tech stuff but from what I understood it will be fiberoptic speed which is already available in my area.. *confused*..

You sure bro? If the gov't could control the ISP's like the copyright enforcers do then it could theoretically be censored or shut down in certain areas no?

PS - I know this isn't breaking news everyone and never claimed it to be... I'm just trying to get opinions not turn this into a dick measuring contest.. cuz if that happened i'd definitely win.. :)

To be honest .. I think it is a possibility of happening in the US .. Hell it is already happening in some sort of other ways. They are slowly one by one passing these little laws that are enabling the US gov't to rip sites off the internet without warrants or orders from judges among other things.
