I'm planning a trip to China next month, and I'm worried about their Internet censorship screwing up with my work.
VPN is a possible solution for stuff that is blocked, but I'm not sure how fast/reliable it'll be.
Anyone has experience with working from China?

Yeah im in china..Internet is okay here. With a vpn you can access everything.

I use witopia, I hear strongvpn is also good.

Internet speed depends on where you are. Beijing, shanghai, guangzhou, shenzhen will have fast internet. Second tier cities have slower connections.

I'm sure I'd qualify for one of those rolling execution van's they have there just from the shit I have on my laptop. And it's really nothing out of the ordinary.

just sayin

My idea is pass the border with a formatted drive and restore that this when inside :thefinger:

It really depends on where your going and the quality of hotels/internet connections. Many places have shitty internet. There is a huge difference between cities.

It's been a few years since I've been there, but I did ok using tor/vpn. Your best bet is to forget the hardcore work and chillax while your there.

I wouldn't worry about the vans and other crap you've heard. If you've got any common sense you will be fine.

I worked in China for about a year and their internet was faster than the one I have here (and that was in Hangzhou, a smaller city). I used StrongVPN to get around the great firewall which worked out great too.
