internet probs. help please!

I have verizon dsl.

Okay, my internet keeps crapping out randomly throughout the day. I looked at my modem and the ready light goes from a stable solid green light to a blinking one(this usually happens when I restart my modem or unplug my phone cord). When the modem connects again, it will disconnect a short while after and continue doing this until I unplug the power and replug it. Doing this should last me a good hour or so... sometimes more. What's causing this? I initially thought I may have damaged it from putting my router on top of it. Doing this caused the same thing, but it was because of the added heat from the router. The modem got extremely hot doing this. I accidentally left the router on top of it one day and that may have damaged it... Maybe I need a new modem.

Yes I've tried unplugging everything and replugging it. nothing works :'( I called tech support and some lady from india picked up and told me to unplug it and replug it. When I told her I was connected to the internet she was like.. "job well done k thx bai lol". I guess she didn't fully grasp the situation.
 


You need to call them back and have somebody come out and replace your modem and check out what the problem is.

I had the same problem and it was intermittent problem. They will say anything to get you off the phone as quickly as possible.

Tell them you need to have somebody out there and don't take no for answer no matter what they say. Make sure you sound like you know what you're talking about and not some noob they can tell to fuck off.
 
I had issues with my internet connection on and off for about a a year (only gig in town or I would have dropped them). They came to the house on about 3 separate occasions. Replacing the modem once and pretty much all the wiring in the house. The last time they came they replaced all the wiring coming up to the house and it finally fixed the problem. I am thinking it is just the modem but might want them to check your wiring to be safe.
 
Most of all don't let them push you around.

You are paying for their service. Even if the modem isn't the problem, make them get the fuck out to your house and do what needs to be done to get your shit online. Don't be a push-over, lie to them if you have to , or if you don't care enough cancel your plan and go some where else. That's not to say you won't get treated any different elsewhere you can't let minimum tech. support agents make the decisions for you. Now, I know why those tech support agents try to talk to me like they talk to you since they know they can get away with it. Fuck that, I don't put up with that shit.
 
Im on the phone with tech for my internet as we speak. They are fucktards. Tell them what you want, and dont take no for an answer. Get to a manager ASAP.

Seriously, as soon as those retards tell me to power off my computer and disconnect my modem for 30 sec., I start raising hell.
 
Your telephone line is probably messed up.It happens when your line has earthing problem etc (Sync Issue)
 
Their is a reason they are not in a better job. If they had the skills to do more than read you a script, they would be using them.

Tech support guys are the burger flippers of our time.

I'm sorry to be a hater, if I managed just once to get someone who wasnt a jackass on the other end of the phone, I wouldnt have this view.
