It says I can run skype in the background with the new iphone 4 update to my 3gs, but when i start skype... then hit home, then double click to re-open skype it has to log in again which makes me think its not actually running

same with slacker radio (i like it better than pandora).. ill open it and double click to go to another app and the radio stops

what am i missing here....

Not all apps are compatible yet with multitasking. I've had a lot just crash when I try to multi-task. Hopefully most will update soon - some people really had their shit together and actually had iOS4-compatible updates released before yesterday.

When you click "Home", it closes the application. When you "double hit home", it pulls up your last used applications while leaving the current application open. You should be able to have Skype run in the background while you receive a call, same with Pandora.

Once developers get their updates approved by Apple (could be months in the queue), they'll probably support leaving the application open in the background if you double-tap to go into another application.

I think the multi-tasking is nice, but I suspect it's going to kill my battery. At least the task-manager-style closing of open apps is pretty well executed.

Folders ftw. I've cut 6 pages of app down to 3. The zoom on the camera sucks, probably only worth it if you're getting iPhone4.
