went rafting yesterday and my bag fell off the raft. My iPhone was in it. Even though it was tightly wrapped in a plastic bag, water somehow got in.

Good thing is the iPhone was turned off when it happened. Not sure if it makes any difference though.

Anyone experienced this? It's been about 14 hours now since this happened, not sure if I should try to turn it back on or wait longer. Shitty thing is I'm expecting an important call this evening!

I've googled it but it seems everyone has different tips. Rice? Silica Gel? Blow drying?

Thoughts?

Tits for tips...

Dito. Also have done it a few times before, always works. Put it in and let it chill out for at least a day, preferably more.

Sorry you're expecting an important phone call, but let that shit dry out.

Keep the damn thing turned off, and do the ricebag trick overnight. Shit works.

-But make sure the rice is fresh/dry/not stored in a humid climate!

Finding enough silica gel is tough to do so rice is your best shot.

My ex-girlfriend used to drop her phone in the toilet monthly. When I was in college, I used this method to dry my "crops" and it worked like magic whenever her phone went for a swim:

More recently, I've used this stuff:
[ame="http://www.amazon.com/DampRid-FG30K-Refill-Bag-42-Ounce/dp/B000ZZWSVY/"]Amazon.com: DampRid FG30K Refill Bag, 42-Ounce: Home Improvement[/ame]

Whatever you use, make sure the container is air tight. You can get the DampRid at Home Depot or just about any home supply store. Some supermarkets have the shit. I guess people use it in their basements.

The phone already looks pretty dry to me, it's been sitting in the balcony for hours. Anyways, I'm gonna do the rice thing for 24 hours to be sure. I'm just pissed I'm gonna miss this call this evening.

contact your wireless provider and see if they can set up forwarding to another phone while you're waiting for your iphone to dry out.

You can get silica, the stuff they put in those little packets in electronics and stuff. It is also used to dry flowers and sucks moisture better than rice. Find it at your local gardering/craft/flower shop.

Yeah, Just to add i've done it a few times, and as stated above the rice trick usually works, Keeping it turned off is also essential untill it drys out. Most damage is done in these cases when the electricity hits the water inside.

Oven to 175 degrees. Turn oven off (this is important). Put phone in there, close door. Take out when oven is cool.

Put rice in with phone. Have dinner.

dropped mine in the ocean a few weeks ago was under the waves for a good 15 minutes (i was calling it and saw that mother fucker ringing under the water lol)

took it out did the rice trick, put it in the freezer (it wouldn't turn off) thing actually worked just fine except the home button was fried. None of my liq stickers turned red so warranty phone FTW!

Rice trick is usually the best option.

Dude Rice x1000000000000000000000000000000000

I can't tell you how many times i've fucking dropped my phone in the water or fell in the pool.

Rice saved that shit all the time.

Step 1: Get dry ass white rice and put it in a plastic bag

Step 2: Take out your battery, cover (doesn't apply to the iphone i guesss)

Step 3: Fully submerge that shit in the rice bag and let it sit for as long as you can

Slowly but surely the phone will come back to life .. trust me
