I was given the task to design a user interface for an iphone app. It will also be used on ipad.

I'm looking on YouTube for quality tuts but all I can find are videos about making quick simple apps. Is there a website or even educational material to buy that covers this subject? I want to make buttons with 3 states (inactive, pushed, active) and make it look uniform and scaled on iphone and ipads.

Help me out gimme some directions please :D

Are you looking for tuts on how to design it yourself or best practices?

If you are asking, I can guess you are not a designer which my best advice would be to go to Dribble or the likes and try someone to do it for you for less than what you are charging and profit.

I could do that, but I really want to learn. My only assignment is to do the graphics, and we have a programmer that will do the backend.

Is it complicated? Are there any lessons or courses covering graphic UI design that I should look into?

If it's for learning you might as well just start at the ios developer documentation and figure out what controls you need to implement, lay it out and rig it up.

For more elaborate apps most of the main game engines have ios ports and can be used for more than games, and you benefit from all the methods of their API's which are extensive...they boost productivity.

It's not a game app, it will be service app, with around 10 screens...my main concern is the quality of graphics.

I was looking videos you guys posted here and I'm still not sure should I use Photoshop, Fireworks or Illustrator. I know I can get job done in all three, but my real quesiton what is the "industry standard"...for example, people can use any video editor but 99% of folks do their job in Premiere or Final Cut.

I want the visuals to look good, Apple-clean like :D

Don't mean to be a dick, but I highly doubt you'll be able to make it "Apple like" if you need to ask.

I'm not saying don't go for it, but you might benefit from managing your own expectations.
