Just kidding, they're doing it with android instead.

Believe it or not a group of students and come up with a pretty revolutionary idea that could change the course of history, and radically change every human’s life.

Using the movie Aliens, Ridley Scott's sci-fi thriller, for inspiration they have come up with an idea for a unique type of satellite. With the help of the cell phone, a camera, a high-performance computer, and a microphone they're going to test whether it is possible to scream in space.

Essentially there is will be deleted that essentially they will be launching a satellite into low Earth orbit that will attempt to scream from a cell phone to a microphone then transmit the data back to Earth. With so interesting about this is the fact that will be done for a minor thousand dollars or so.

As interesting as the idea is it's more important to note that this technologies available to the average consumer (or college for that matter) for as much money as a Geo Metro.

Whether you can hear someone scream in space are not, maybe it will work, maybe it will not work. But the big take away from this is the fact that it communicates to not only Earth-based computers but also Earth-based cell phones as well from space. This extremely inexpensive satellite can beam high-speed data back to Earth from spa

How is finding out whether or not you can scream in space going to "change the course of history, and radically change every human’s life"?

Sound waves need molecules, liquid gas or solid, to travel through.

Sound doesnt travel in a vacuum.

We're testing out voice dictation SEO writing on this site. The hope was that our quality checkers would filter out bad/poor english or problems generated by the voice software.......guess not.

No offense intended but it looks like the articles on that site were written by a retarded 10 year old, which is a shame because the domain name is good. The moment i see articles written like that though, i just hit the big red x.

The fact they're utilizing a $2,000 satellite to do it is what's important.

A cell phone in space can effectively act as a wifi relay from point-to-point.

Imagine hundreds, if not thousands of them.

One possible thing you could do is cover the entire earth in a WiFi net providing everyone 50mb-100mb speeds, regardless of where you're at. The limitation has been bandwidth costs because of most satellites costing hundreds of millions of dollars and relying on specialized technology from the 80s.

Space is further away than your living room. 1 / r^2 is a bitch.

Maybe if the satellites are floating 10 feet above your house, but not if they're in space. You need significantly more power than what a $2k satellite can provide.
