Iran fired at unarmed US drone, Pentagon says

Eh, I don't think anything will happen out of this. Some Colonel somewhere will write up new operating procedures, and this'll just be an archived event.

It does pose an interesting question though, with unmanned aircraft coming into the legal limelight. If an aircraft is not in your territory, but is still LOOKING at your country (or specifically, "spying") should that be considered Go criteria for engaging that piece of equipment?

I think so.

Well, maybe, and I know this is a very radical idea, but perhaps we shouldn't be flying drones over their fucking country to begin with and they wouldn't shoot them down.

Right. Iran has sick weapons that can hit drones in international airspace. Seems legit.

air to air missiles launched fighters are a widespread military capability.

Drone was unarmed, Iran is at fault!!!

If you go near Obama with unloaded gun I bet everyone will laugh hard and nothing bad could happen to you.

I don't see any important differences between drones and manned surveillance aircraft in this context.

I should be able to observe whatever I want from my territory without being attacked IMO, it's not an act of aggression.

I'm surprised no one got butthurt saying the news was suppressed because it would have given Romney the election.
