I was reading about these occupy wall street people and their "message" today after some of them got arrested at Citibank. I was wondering just what the fuck their message is, and I came across this First OFFICIAL Release from OCCUPY WALL STREET | OccupyWallSt.org Forum. In this list of shit, one of the things they mentioned was, "They have held students hostage with tens of thousands of dollars of debt on education, which is itself a human right."

I'm asking WF's opinion now on whether or not a "college education" is a human right, since that's the kind of education that is being referred to here. Here are some tits for your time.

Holding them hostage? They act as if they had no idea what the cost was when they took our their student loans.. What the fuck is that about? Also, of course college education isn't a right. If you want the education/degree, you pay for it.

Also, I've been seeing more and more people saying "Down with capitalism!" I didn't think this originally started as an anti-capitalist movement.. but now that it seems it has become one, I have withdrawn ANY support I once had for it.

No it isn't and that's why it's not mandatory for anyone to have to go to school after high school. My suggestion to these people is to stop screwing around in college, take your education seriously, get a degree in something that will actually help you in the real world and then put that degree to the best possible use that you can and then you'll be able to afford to pay back your loans. Most of these people protesting are probably just lazy bums that partied all the time and never took college seriously and didn't even think about all those student loan debts that they were racking up and now that their creditors are coming to collect they're all "WTF?"

No it's not a human right. If it became free, that means more $ I have to shell out in fucking taxes.

my thoughts exactly...

also, free college = taxpayers buying iPads for every student, etc.

anyone know the cms that site is using?

its very minimal and i like it!

how is a site's design related to a cms? it isn't.

I think the opportunity to educate oneself should be a right. All you need is a library or Internet connection and freedom of information to do that, though. You don't need to go to college to educate yourself--it's just a way for people to feel like they're learning someone without putting in effort. 99% of education is based on what an individual puts into it, not whether they're in college or what college they're at.

All of this is spoken as a college student. I recognize that I'm paying for paper and I educate myself, though.

I don't know about college education being a human right, but I am pretty sure having great boobs to look at is a human right.

The idea to have college education as a "human right" is pretty fucked up imo, especially when the US health care system is a joke to the rest of the world. Priorities, priorities...

Yes, education is a human right. But not fucking college education. College education is a waste of time for most people.

The myth that it should be universal has been propagated by the university industry.

Like I said in another thread, if they really wanted to fuck Wall St over, they should organise a mass debt default. If nobody paid their student loans back, it would cause a huge financial problem for the banks & government.

EDIT - although a bit of research on my part shows the banks have already got that one sorted by making student loans non-provable in bankruptcy. Sheesh. They really own the government, don't they?

If it is not something you can provide for yourself than it is not a human right. If you have to take it from someone else by force without paying they have a word for that and it is called... ROBBERY.....

What I want to know is who the fuck voted yes.....
