Is Shiraz the best allround wine?

I've never met anyone who didn't like a good bottle of Australian Shiraz. On the other hand even supposedly mild wine like Cabernet Sauvignon and Pinot Noir can be very bitter.

I purchased a 750 mL which goes for 3.99 and a 375 mL which goes for 2.59 (at least here in FL). Word on the streets here is that the bums are wary of it. I talked to a couple that said they'd prefer to "stick with what's tried and true". Apparently they haven't accepted it yet as the real deal. As for me, I drank the 375mL on a semi-full stomach and was just ruined by the stuff. The flavor retains it's same potent Wild I nastiness but has a whole new bouquet of fruity flavor added as well (potentially aimed at bums of the female persuasion). Upon completion of the 375, I was thoroughly inebriated and found myself honestly wondering where my next fix of the stuff was going to come from. This scared me so I immediately started drinking water....here's the best part. After that relatively small bottle, I didn't piss until the next evening despite drinking copious amounts of water. There is DEFINITELY something in this stuff that dehydrates you...possibly the "ginseng" or whatever it is that they added to this already foul stuff.

We had mad dog and it had a gold chain with a gold medallion that said "bling bling" on the bottle like it was targeting black teenagers lol.

I couldn't pass it up after seeing that. We had the worst drinking games in history with blue melon and some other nasty shit. Hooked up with my gf from that though.

I prefer syrah or merlot to shiraz. A great $10 bottle is "14 hands" brand. They have several red wines that are very good.

Ok, ok, I'll admit... although I do like a nice glass or two of red wine, especially when out at a restaurant for dinner, I have absolutely no clue about wine whatsoever.

When a waitress hands me a wine list, all I can do is say, "the good one". If I get a puzzled look, I basically just play "eenie meenie minnie moe" with the wine list, and pick at random.

I drink the fuck out of shiraz/syrah.

Trader Joe's $3 Buck Chuck (real brand name: Charles Shaw) shiraz variety is an awesome value. Definitely give that a try.

Another good one I'd recommend is the 2010 J. Lohr's Estates South Ridge Syrah - ~$10/bottle

I tend to prefer a Cabernet. But Shiraz every once in a while is good.

Where I live, we get Chilean wines cheap. Pretty much any Chilean wine in a glass bottle with a natural cork is going to be good, I've yet to try a bad one.

120 is one of my favorite go-to brands. Gato Negro (argentina), Corinthos, Frontera are also good and less costly. Undurago is also pretty good. I forgot the brand I get when I want something nice... (I'm a cheap bastard)
