Is there a time limit on editing posts?

I wanted to put in a reply to Jon's thread in STS about the Iraq war (see the first reply) but now that I go back to write it, I cant edit the post.

I double posted and cant get rid of it in that thread. It was like minutes later when I noticed. Something is up. Maybe Jon locked out edits on that one.

Yeah, there is. I forget what I set it to. Maybe 5-10 mins.

Most of the changes and modifications made recently are for security purposes. Unfortunately, when you get lax with things, people tend to exploit it or abuse it for their selfish and usually financial reasons, like adding shit to an old post or to a new post to get people to their site, or to put a link or a new spin on it to get people to trust them more for forum credibility.

Maybe you could make it have an "edit notification" on the post, so people can see the time it was edited.
