Is this a kickass story? or epic linkbait? v.Ebay Vintage Rolex

It's a nice story and hope the old geezer gets a boat load for it. Shame he's too old to do a great deal with it. (Although he might be able to suspend the downsizing and live a little more extravagantly for the rest of his days.)

That's awesome. Back when I was in high school I used to wear my GrandFather's Cartier gold watch from the 1930's. Being the dumbass I was I took it off in church (youth group) to play basketball and someone stole it...

I hate to think what it was worth at the time of theft, I do know a similar one sold at auction for about 30K...

Hindsight is definitely 20/20...

I could be wrong, but I know a lot of older people who are downsizing, which just means they don't want the upkeep of a large house, etc, despite having substantial assets. This guy was (apparently) a neurosurgeon for 35 years, so I doubt he's starving. Also, he's not an eBay noob, so it's highly suspect that he wouldn't first do a bit of research to find out that this Sub is very rare. I would think he knows that this watch is worth a fair bit, especially since he sold an Omega in '09 for $3000+.
