Is This Russian Trying To Fuck Me Over?

So as I'm struggling to make it in the IM world, I decided to get something on the side to finance my endeavors which is how I came across this opportunity.

Saw an ad on Craigslist, I think, on how I can make some money. Basically, there are American companies that won't ship outside of the States, so they ship to me, and I ship internationally to this company's clients. All I have to do is receive the packages, remove the original slip and put the new one on and off they go.

For doing this mindnumbingly easy work I pocket a cool grand a month. Seems pretty easy, right? Anyways, I'm ready to sign the Employment Agreement until I noticed this company's based out of Vladivistok, Russia, and everyone knows nobody does business in Russia unless they're the Mafia or have the Mafia's consent.

So should I worry, guys? Could I get caught in something illegal, like shipping AK-47's to North Korea or some shit? Or do I have plausible deniability because I never opened the packages?

To make sure, I asked the hiring manager if it was all legal and he replied that yes, indeed it was. So if worse comes to worse, I always have that on my records to show the po-po in case they come knocking.

What do you think, guys? Is this Russian company legit? Or am I about to get caught up in an international world of smuggling, crime, ending in possible incarceration?

there is no way for us to know.. just make sure you get paid for your work and not get conned. thats all i would be concerned about

Just curious but what are they shipping.

Worse case scenario, you're shipping stolen goods bought with stolen credit cards online.

What they do is get stolen shit shipped to your house and then have you ship it to them, and then when you cash your cheque it doesn't clear. Sometimes they also make you pay for the goods after they have sent you a cheque for whatever it is and then the cheque doesn't clear.

Either way you going to get ripped off.

have fun being a drop house. if you want to make real money tell them you're down to handle their fraud for a cut of the profits, because you'll need more than 1k a month to handle the risk.

The Employment Agreement says clothing, electronics, and computer technology. I started this thread because I know nothing happens in Russia without organized crime having a say-so, so I suppose I'm playing with fire.

you serious? If this ain't a joke, the feds are the least of your problems

Care to expound on that? Everyone's saying it's a bad idea without clearly stating why. Does anyone have any actual experience with this type of scheme?

I might just go ahead and do it. I'm not risking any money, if they don't pay me after a month I'll just stop and move on. I suppose this thread was more to make sure I can't be held liable legally in case something's wrong. I have an email from their rep stating clearly that it's legal, I don't open anything, and I don't see how I can be held responsible at all.

Here in Australia, USA remailers are big business. Our dollar is around parity, and many, many people make use of that by shopping on USA sites - not all of which ship to Australia. So don't think that these remailer companies are necessarily dodgy, although I would be wary of any Russian business :P .

If you are serious about remailing as a job, you might consider setting up one that deals with Australian customers. Demand is looking strong, and recent media attention on the issue will likely only increase it. Check PriceUSA and addy.us for USA-AUS remailers.

Man, you've just given me a great business idea:

1. Google "I came across this opportunity"
2. Collect contact details of all the poor saps who think that you can really make money from "opportunities" which are advertised.
3. Market bizopps to them
4. Laugh.

Dude. Just think about this for a sec. $1k a month for freight forwarding? Why wouldn't they just hire a freight forwarding company to do it for the same money, or less.

If you seriously want to do this, I'd rent a mailboxes etc address with fake details to do your forwarding from. That way the feds won't come to your house looking for all those goods bought with stolen cards.

The Employment Agreement says clothing, electronics, and computer technology

i.e. the 3 things most commonly bought with stolen cards.

Nevermind, I was just joking... If you really are a hard worker I can probably hook you up with a similiar job with a bit of a better pay, I'll pm you in a couple of days. in any case, good luck in your endeavors. you're covered, russian email headers hold up great in court so there's nothing to worry about

jriddick - "But I have an email from the guy that recruited me saying this was ok"

DEA interogator - "Are you retarded or just stupid?"

just because you have statements from them telling you it's legal won't mean squat if it is in fact illegal.
