I've got a few referrers in my logs that come from <someurl>/Ok3w_Article.asp

after googling and finding a few hits for the file name, i found a server that exposes the code of it:

http://class.myycu.com/09jike/AppCode/Class/Ok3w_Article.asp

I code php not asp, and while I can make sense of some of it, other parts im not sure - what is this script doing?

I've looked around other files, there's lots of Chinese text in the source files.

Only reason I think I might be being scraped is because of the word "article" in the URL. Obviously you cant stop scraping, but I'm curious as to whether anyone knows if this is something specific; every little helps! :)

Looks that way. Since they are leaving a referrer trail: on your index page, add a PHP redirect at the top and if they have that footprint send them to wiickedfire.com.

sometimes i think just black listing non-western countries is a good idea, especially with mfas

Yeah, unless it's a site that would work for people in other countries (international offers, blogs pushing Amazon stuff, etc.) I block the IPs of any asian and russian traffic.

Here's a decent site on how to easily do it with .htaccess: Block China Web Traffic IP Addresses and Chinese Hackers

Another way to do it is verify the traffic via IPtables. This saves resources and can be dynamically updated via a Cron Job so you'll always have the most recent files for IP blocks.

thanks for that rexibit, I shall look into that, the mfas are on hostgator shared hosting so limited to htaccess or even php.

php might be the way to go, esepcially if updating the lists periodically

food for thought.

I've been getting a shit ton of this garbage traffic. I just put this (blocking russian, chinese, indian traffic) on my todo list last night. Perfect timing on the info. Thanks!
