Can we (at least) agree that it is a bit ironic that FOX NEWS is conservative while the rest of FOX has "liberal" programming? Can we agree it's ironic?

[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_4X3QKKny1Q"]YouTube - The Simpsons Final Episode[/ame]

Other than that, FOX News does have its good points, however they're few and far between and rarely mentioned by me. :) :moon:

YouTube - The Simpsons Final Episode

^^^ The video demonstrates my point. It's not just another Simpsons episode, btw.

I mean FOX has:

The Simpson's(who pokes fun at FOX) - The Family Guy(FOX has pulled some "controversial" episodes) - Wanda Sykes (who is a lesbian) - maybe others?

These don't seem like shows a conservative would watch...

Are conservatives watching these shows as well as liberals?

Yahoo Answers:

Why does Family guy & Simpsons make fun of Fox so much!? edit: link fail.. but it's there.

One of the answers:
- "Because it's ironic."

I'm not the only one! Even if it was 2 years ago.

I can't find any clips on youtube of Family Guy or Simpsons making fun of FOX and conservative ideals. But I know they exist! Just not on youtube since FOX pulls all of them.

But the Simpons and Family Guy poke fun at FOX and conservatives and I'm suppose to believe conservatives enjoy this?

Sounds hypocritical....but at the very least ironic.

I mean the very same company, FOX, owns the conservative news channel and the liberal side as well. Ironic...

Ironic? Somewhat. Capitalist? Absolutely.
They got rid of Family Guy and then brought the show back since it's so fucking popular. The Simpsons, although unfunny and tired since Groening left, is still a decently popular show. Fox News has, I believe, the largest viewer base of any cable news network and dominates the conservative sheeple market. While it may seem ironic that Fox would have "liberal" shows like Family Guy on their network they are a television network and ultimately they get revenue from ads and the amount of revenue they get from ads is proportionate to the number of eyeballs watching shows that they air. All seems pretty straight forward to me.

Agreed. Fox makes money. That's their only agenda.

Hell yeah dude!

I already knew this. :)

I simply wanted an intelligent person to point this out other than me.

We have multiple FAILS above. ^^^^ You Win!

Which brings me to my point...... FOX news doesn't give a shit about conservative values...... it's all about the money.

Just like every fucking station. If anyone gets all their news straight from the tube they're a little misguided to say the least.

Agreed. Fox makes money. That's their only agenda.

woot! :)

I wonder though... if the same people that watch FOX news are the same people that watch The Simpsons, Family Guy, etc.

:wonders:

What would it matter?

You don't watch The Simpsons for political guidance. It is not ironic. It is a comedy show, not a news broadcast.

While I am a conservative liberal, but a liberal nonetheless, I don't know if I could honestly say that Fox News "just cares about the money". While Fox is a corporation and making money is what a corporation is designed to do, I don't think we can necessarily say that the good folks at Fox News don't believe what they broadcast. While I have a hard time believing that an intelligent person could watch Glenn Beck and think that he is someone who has a firm grasp on world issues and is someone who you should let shape your view of the world, I honestly believe that a good portion of the people employed by that media outlet must believe that they are doing a service by getting "the truth" out to the people....how ever humorous I might find it to be.

You bought right in.... :)

I don't watch The Simpsons for political guidance, you're correct.

I don't watch FOX news for political guidance either... So this doesn't apply to me anyway....

Let's say someone else gets there political guidance from FOX news and then that person flips on Family Guy, Simpsons, any other liberal programming FOX has....

Aren't these people, at least just a tiny bit so, being hypocritical?

They want to believe that they have the moral high ground (values, etc. )....then they go watch all the values bashing right after (Family Guy, Simpsons, any other liberal programming, etc.)......

I'm ONLY talking about people that watch FOX news for political guidance and then turn on their liberal programming. It's ironic/hypocritical.

-------

And yeah.... it's just a comedy show.... So conservatives can't hate on Jon Stewart, either.

All the people at the top of the corporate ladder care about is profit. So it ultimately comes down to profit, anyway.

It's not liberal programming in the sense you're trying to define it as - it's television and comedy.

If people took plot lines to CARTOON SHOWS as a serious testament to what they believe in, being a comedian wouldn't even be legal in most cases.
