Issues arising from large amounts of comments on a single WP page?

Hey,

Can you guys think of any issues or glitches (technical or non) that might arise from having a single wordpress page with hundreds of comments? thousands?

Or would that be fine?

Just make sure it doesn't try to load all the 1000's of comments onto the page- maybe like 100-250, then a "show more comments" link at the bottom.

Caching might not be a bad idea if you are expecting the page to get hit up a lot. (Check out WP_Super Cache plugin)

Pretty much what jryan said, you shouldn't have problems as long as you paginate them.
You used to need a plugin to paginate the comments but in the last couple of versions there is a function for comment pagination built in. You need to set it in your discussion options then add the function to your comments template. It is something like paginate_comment_links() I think.
