Just seen on the idiot box that Jessica Watson come in to sydney. She was given a warm welcome... I am sure her blog would be going nuts but what made my day was to see how tight the Aussie Government is.

Kruddy gets up and offers her....wait for it.... 1 free driving lesson curtiousy of the australian tax payer... How generious is that... she has just done something that 99.99% of 16 yr old females would never do and after how much he says "Australia Loves You" the most they give is 1 free lesson. Channel 10 though gave her a further 10 lessons...

Who gives a shit. Sailing around the world is about as useless as soccer (so pretty useless).
 
Its some dumb 8 year old that flew around the world in a hot air balloon using her iPhone and is now on the cover of Playboy or something.

Just ignore it. Now that Kevin is involved she'll fade into the eternal shadows of obscurity soon enough. Right after her titties are made famous, obviously.

Shit, if I said that on Twitter during the logies I'd probably be deported or something. Again. To Papua New Guinea. Damn you Akismet. Love you long time my little head hunting friends.
 
I think this girl is going to be set for life... think about it... she is 17... sailed the world by herself... got over 400k visits a day to her blog.... has already got exclusives with large media organisations, has hollywood wanting to do a movie on her story...

she has just made countless millions for 7 months work... no one on here could do that in that time...

so your telling me that if organisations like News Ltd who has reportedly signed her to a media deal worth $700,000 and the fact that her sponsors page Sponsors shows a list of large companies... if she has not made atleast 4-5 mil out of this not including her book, the movie (if it goes ahead) and all the extra stuff then yea there has to be something wrong...

dude I am agreeing with you re: Jessica Watson making millys.

I am disagreeing with (not being able to) make millions over a period of 7 months. Think rebills.
 
I think it is really good to see that she had the balls to do it and also the fact that she has gone the whole way round without issue or failure to complete the task says alot about her. the fact she has made money from it is even better... I would say that she has made more money out of it than most people on here would ever see in a year.

I know where you are coming from I just would find it had to believe that heaps of affiliates could do those figures on rebills alone in such a short period of time... 1 million yea ok... sure... 2 mil you are doing awesome... 2 mil + your on pills or a very lucky individual...

I could see it being possible for a say a couple thousand affiliates but any more than that and I think it would be a push...but hey if they are good luck to them... I can only admire them and strive to achieve such an income at this stage...
 
The worst part about this whole jessica watson fiasco is the people that call her a hero, and then there are people arguing that calling her a hero is justified. she isn't a hero, she has just accomplished a very difficult task. I think we as a nation are very sad folk if we much such a song and dance about a girl sailing around the world unassisted when she had modern technology to help her.
 
Haters gonna hate. I really doubt anyone on this forum has the tenacity or balls to do what she did @ the age of 16.

Modern technology or not, to sail a 33ft boat around the world, get knocked down several times ( meaning her mast went 90 degrees and in one case 180 degrees i.e. upside down), while 1000's km from anywhere deserves great respect.

But then only people who never been outside their bathtub would deride her accomplishment.

As for being a hero, even she rebuked the Prime Minister & said ''I'm going to disagree with the Prime Minister. I don't consider myself a hero. I'm an ordinary girl who believed in her dream,'' she said. ''You don't have to be someone special, or anyone special to achieve something amazing. You've just got to have a dream, believe in it and work hard.''
