Looking at their demo, it appears to have what I need. Linux.com is the biggest site I could find that has it implemented, but it doesn't look like they are using all of the features. Basically trying to add a social component to a specialized Magento site, and not sure if I should go with just adding a forum, or implementing something like this. Advice, tips or free beer appreciated. In return, tittays.

I do a lot of Jamula sites, but never had cause to use this yet, but I've seen it in action and it's pretty flexible from what I can tell. Check out joomlachicago.com as well- they run it and seem to have it set up pretty well.

I remember they had a hard time getting a forum com to work well with it, but eventually got Kunena to work fine, and it's even smoother now that 1.6 is out.

if you have used CB (Community Builder) then you have used JomSocial... same script different name and price... I believe it is a lot better than CB was..

The problem I always experience when considering Joomla is the fact that there really isn't any clear choice for a forum plugin. I constantly read horror stories of incompatibilities with other plugins which usually scares me off.

I've often used Legacy mode and Fireboard (for forums)... *embarrassed smiley*

JomSocial has tried to steal my heart many times, but it's often looked too feature laden (for my needs) to warrant using it. I've just stuck with CB, although I'm far from a lover of it.

For just a forum plugin, the phpbb bridge from Rockettheme works *OK*. Although if you run phpbb, you are asking to get xrumered to death.

Yeah if I go with a forum it'll be vB with a bridge or preferably IPB if they ever develop a bridge - I will not be using phpBB. I'm just really liking the way jomSocial looks so I was wondering if anyone has used it but I'm not sure if adding what is essentially a social network is worth it.
