Want a cup of coffee? Use Jonathan's card - CNN.com

I hesitated to post this here, since I know there are idiots on here that will probably take advantage of this. But I also know there's a lot of really cool people that will pay it forward, so it's a wash.

Besides, while I'm all about interesting social experiments, I really appreciate how brilliant this campaign is at getting his name out. (Whether he admits it or not)

Sorry will end in 0 balance. This is much like how torrents operate, except the torrent network is supported by retards with huge upload limits that don't realize utorrent is running in the background uploadin der files.

No starbucks where I live. I guess I live in one of those underprivileged countries.:uhoh2:

I only read the first couple paragraphs ...and saw that it had like3k on it.

Does that mean I can go to Starbucks and buy 3kthem worthof shit with it foe free?

Very cool.

Seeing a lot of "bummer, I'm empty!" tweets today though.

Proof that humans suck?

Either way, thanks for posting Turbo. No doubt that he'll be getting some crazy exposure out of this.

This is turbolapp's attempt to get us to ask her out for coffee. (Whether she admits it or not)

I dunno, I think while a lot of it's that, a lot are genuine uploaders as well. Whenever I have spare HDD space on my server (gigabit uplink) I download a few torrents and seed.

and holy shit at this:
One wrinkle he didn't expect? Coupons for free coffee, which the company rewards for frequent use of the mobile app, come in the form of physical coupons and aren't applied to the e-card.
He's gonna be drinking free starbucks for the rest of his life.

Article says its gone to 0 a few times, but other people keep donating when it gets empty. So, as long as the novelty doesn't wear off, it should keep working, at least until someone writes a script to auto transfer that balance to their own card every time its filled.

An interesting experiment, however no Starbucks here or MD or KFC or BK and I live in an expensive blooming place.

Shame their isn't a way for Jonathan to stop people transferring funds

Even if it's not viral marketing, it's a failed experiment. "Restored my faith in humanity" etc. etc.... Most people are shitheads and sticking a few bucks on a card like this is a quick way to feel good about yourself. Everyone's in it for themselves, whether they put $5 on a communal hipster coffee card or not.

Actually experiments can't fail. They can only fail to produce the results you hoped for.
