Joomla for affiliate marketing?

Anyone here use Joomla for PPC affiliate marketing? Or do you prefer to stick to static HTML?

Wondering if its worth doing because:

a) you could more easily turn it into an authority site

b) easier to update content

Or do you see drawbacks.

yes - i have an install i like that can easily scale if the site sticks in the search results and the conversions are good. then i can easily add on social features, forum, etc.

but, wordpress is probably a better bet if you don't already know joomla, its a lighter weight install and seems to be easier on the server.

Is it not trickier to control page elements on Wordpress? My impression is that Joomla is better for portal type sites, while Wordpress can be used for them but without so much flexibility, yes?

Although they like to make it tricky to have a static homepage.

actually that's not tricky at all.. its an option to select a static home page and you just choose the page from a drop down list.. its under Settings > Reading

I agree, you must use Wordpress for your LPs. There is no other option. Wordpress is the only choice.
