We own this site among others: MMORPGFocus.com - The Ultimate MMORPG Community!

Google banned our Adsense account for no reason, no warning, in fact I have never been so baffled and angry in my life.

The site mentioned has 2100 members and is growing, we have official press connections to Sony Online Entertainment, Turbine Entertainment, Funcom, and many Asian Free to Play game developers.

Needless to say I just refunded all our Adwords prepaid balance and am going to take Google to small claims court (I'll probably lose against a billion dollar corporation but what the hell right?). We honestly have done nothing wrong and I almost wonder if some disgruntled user somehow framed us?? Is such a thing possible?

This site is just going to grow and grow.

Can a mod help me - I need a site monetization consultant who isn't some scammer and an alternative to DoubleClick to place ads on my site. The job will pay well if you have a resume and verifiable references.

What could have happened, I am still in shock.
 


LOL just changed all my home pages.

I will never use Google for anything again and will advise everyone I meet to do the same. They owe me some fairly decent money.

I need an Adsense replacement that doesn't pay you two months and then cancel you right before your 3rd paycheck as you are finally starting to earn some money.

You don't need a monetization consultant. Just hit up the smaller game publishers in your PR contact list and offer to do direct advertising for them. If your site gets enough traffic setup OpenX to show them the CTR on their campaigns run on your site. Or look into adroll.com to get your traffic bundled into other game niche sites to get a (kind of) decent CPM of running banner ads. Alternately, if you already pissed google off you may as well go full bore and just straight up sell backlinks.
 
Yeah guess its cool they just steal a month of ad placements on my site. I'm new to this and thought Google was a reputable company not fucking thieves. I will swear it on anything we DID NOT do anything against their terms.

I have no clue who to replace them with.

How about something constructive other than bitching at me?

Like sharing who is a decent company and who I should replace them with???

I have been in this business 3 months and doing better than most, but still don't know shit compared to most people here.

Ok, well shit happens. Also couldn't have been to much if you had to wait 2 months for it.

I know sometimes setbacks happen. Adsense is an easy way to get some money from a site. You cannot use them, move on. Try to find out more on what happened and see if you can resolve it.


On that note ways to monetize your site.

Selling adspace - Get a platform or something so people can advertise on your site. You will have to offer low prices at first. The bigger you get the more you can charge.

CPA Offers - Your site is prime for some CPA offers. Ones that come to mind are. Free Macbook, Game Systems and TV email submits.

The only thing I dislike about the ones above is they really do not provide banners for the offers. Since they lean more towards PPC on the offers. No big deal though. Either make your own or find these offers...I think they might have banners at other places you can use.

Now since you are geared towards gaming these should work.

Since your demographic is single men who can't find a date <making an assumption> try some dating offers. Copeac has a slew of in house. You could go with singlesnet though from where ever you want. Just make sure you get it cleared for lower ages since they usually want 25+ on the offer.

It should be fairly easy to find a php script to rotate the offers. Just ask around here. I think I have a few around.

When looking for a script. I would assume you have people from different countries. See if you can make it to show the offers by country using some sort of GEO IP.

hmmm what else could we do...

amazon affiliate - get feeds for stuff that your site is relevant to. computers, gaming systems, strategy guides, games and what have you.

The same would also hold true for EBAY. Try to get a EPN set up and run with them to. See which one works better for you.

You should look around at the places that sell gold and items for the MMORPGS. They usually have some sort of affiliate program you can make some money off of.

Charge Users For Premium Content - This one can be hard. Thinking outside the box would help. Maybe offer walkthroughs, an outlet to items, contests for free stuff.

Also build your user list. Get emails and make sure people stay active or check the site from time to time. Send out email blasts when you have "new" or "breaking" news.

Yeah you can see I have two ads still up right now that I sold to the Asians. I may try to do more of this.

For some reason Copeac sounds familiar another thing I will study, many thanks. I must have read about here somewhere before, anyway it is worth a try although I am a total noob to this as well.

Yeah first thing I thought of was Amazon Affiliate and set up everything tonight, so I've got the account, going to take a lot of work to go through and put content sensitive ads in each subforum manually though.

Do you know many people making good money just as Amazon Affiliates with my type of site?

Not going to do this because some of my users are vehemently against gold selling in a philosophical way. Might cause me to lose some members.

I already started this with the "Girl Gamer of the Month Program" I am creating original content and charging $19.95 for a recurring annual membership that gives them access to a hidden private forum. Here is a sample of what they see large 2500x2500 photo sets of:

I can pimp girls from my friends for a while but eventually I am going to have to pay some of them to keep up the original content.

Some of it is pure gamer heaven - topless with only two mice covering the boobs etc.

This is a great idea, I already have 2,100 members and all their email addresses, I can send mass emails every time we have a mjor interview like the one we just did with Everquest II Lead Producer Alan Crosby.

Congratulations, you figured out what most of us recognize as common knowledge.

Would give you advice but looks like the major points have already been covered. I'd wager being forced to switch to alternative revenue sources will actually be one of the best things that could have happened to you.

Also, get real with the self promotion. Your site is shit and there are thousands of others in your niche that do it better.

On second thought, I do have advice - if you want to try charge users to see your "gamer girl" content, try getting girls that aren't uggos.

Just sayin.
