A small Appalachian church in Kentucky is being called racist for passing a vote that banned interracial couples from the church. The Gulnare Freewill Baptist Church voted 9 to 6 on Sunday to ban interracial couples from church services or functions, with the exception of funerals.

I think in their case, they would claim they can do so because of religious beliefs.

Louisville and Lexington make up the majority of the black population in the state, around 7% of the total population (nationwide avg is ~13%.) Whenever I go to Eastern Kentucky, you can go the whole trip without seeing any minorities at all, so this isn't surprising at all.
