Suppose I have a blog Example Web Page with content related to celebrities, music, movies, etc. Now will it affect the QS negatively if I put a ringtones landing page on a subdomain like landingpages.example.com while keeping the blog posts, about & privacy pages on example.com?

Of course the LP will contain links to the necessary pages that reside on example.com

In short, no. But if you wanna play safe you can always add a link or two in the footer to the cellphone provider (non-afflink), a carrier, or to an external article from a trusted site like Digg or Wikipedia with ringtone related anchor text.

Btw, is the QS you are concerned about for SEM or SEO? I don't think it will hurt in either case, but SEM/SEO have different concerns.
 
Just make sure your ringtone page follows the guidelines for the seach engine. Didn't google updated the rules for ringtone sites?

Also ringtones isn't too off topic from celebrities and music. It isn't like a porn site to a car loan page.

You just want to follow the search engines rules regarding ringtones, or you may actually hurt your main site.

I don't see why everyone is doing ringtones anyways though...
