Seems like something WF likes to discuss.

From Facebook:

Today, I participated in the City of Los Angeles' Gun Buy Back program as a reserve LAPD officer. Residents were able to trade their guns anonymously in exchange for a $100 or $200 Ralphs gift card. I personally handled many of the guns and I am happy to see them off the street where nobody can steal them, sell them or use them to kill. - Councilman Buscaino

From CBS:

The city is offering up to $100 Ralph's gift cards for handguns, shotguns and rifles, and up to $200 gift cards for California-classified assault weapons.

They do this annually, but it's supposed to be in May. They bumped it up this year.

Do they do this in other cities? Do you think they would accept my Red Ryder?

this seems like a waste of tax payer money imo.

I would love to know how many of these guns that get turned in have been used in any crimes VS just random guns. seems like people who dont know the value of their weapon/need cash bad/never use it would be the type of people turning them in.

Glad to see they got Magnum PI to be their spokesperson. He can really handle that AR.

Notice most of them are hunting rifles and not the ones they actually claim are dangerous.

I wish a motherfucker would hold a gun buy back anywhere near where I live and people actually brought ARs to it. I'd be there with shades on buying them all for a little more than the gov offered.

ARs are going to get stupid expensive soon.

peasent spotted for sure. They needed cash for Xmas so they sold their guns... what idiots.

and I'm sure no career criminal would of sold his pistol for $100 either. epic government fail once again.

Haha, what a waste. These are so useless. Most guns turned in are broken or crappy, and never would have been used for anything "dangerous."

Last year there was a guns4groceries gun buyback in Austin. You got like $10 for a bb gun, $100 for a rifle/handgun, $200 for a scary assault rifle. Whole bunch of people set up shop outside and bought guns for $20 over the cops. I hope they do this next year - easy way to build a collection.

I'm hoping they have a gun buy back here in Vegas. I've got two handguns I can't seem to give away...

Last time I saw one here they were giving away Wal-mart gift cards. Would turn in shitty handguns then head to Wal-mart and buy ammo.

California would be better served with a "Guns for Ganja" exchange. We've got more weed in this state than we do cash to buy Ralphs gift cards.

I drove by one of them today. A bunch of middle-aged white and Asian guys turning in hunting rifles or shotguns. Not exactly the criminal demographic. Probably hard up for cash or just turned into pussies.
