I've never been much of a content guy, I'm more into web apps and software. But I've got an idea for a new project that would involve scraping content from a few popular sites.
In essence what I would be doing is very similar to what Google does - just taking certain bits and pieces and listing the data in a certain way on my site.
The thing is, the site would be pretty popular and I'm not so sure how the sites I'm scraping content from would like what I'm doing. I would be linking their content back to their site, so on one hand they might like it - but for certain "power users" it could reduce overall pageviews of the respective sites.
Is there a clear line in the sand in terms of what you can and can't do with scraped content? At what point do "copyright" claims come in to play, if at all?
