I'm getting ready to buy some for the 4th of July - usually they ship ground freight so you have to do it ahead of time. Fortunately just about everything is legal where I live.

Anyone got a mail order supplier they prefer? Or if someone happens to be running an aff site for them PM me the link - if I like what I see I'll buy through it.

I generally spend $300-$500 - not TOO much - just like to see stuff go BANG.
 


I normally go to the Phantom Fireworks stores and I think they freight ship. They don't carry the biggest things that you can normally purchase down south, but still some decent 2 - 2 1/2 in mortars and cakes.
 
Whatever you get, make sure you get Roman Candles

I should clarify.
Pretty much all fireworks are illegal here. No firecrackers. Nothing untethered can leave the ground and no sparks 3 ft above the ground. We don't even have the real type of sparklers its the crap nonmetal ones that don't do shit. Yet its still my favorite holiday. *depressing*
 
Oh, the bottle rocket fights we had as kids...

I dunno how people that grew up in states where they were prohibited got by without the experience of trying to explain the huge, blackened holes in your school clothes to your mothers.

There was nothing like ripping the little red stick off a bottle rocket, lighting it, and throwing it in the middle of all your friends waiting for the bus in the morning. :)
 
Here in California even the foggy land overlooking the ocean (Big Sur) seems to burn like a sheet of paper. So I don't know where to get fireworks, just assuming they are illegal most places.

But my neighborhood in San Francisco is like an amateur fireworks war zone on the 4th, so someone must know where to get the good stuff.

A lot of places will ship ground freight to your house regardless of where you live...hint hint. They get around it by delivering it to a local trucking company. From that point on you are just arranging for the shipper to drop some boxes *cough* off at your house with a semi.

At least it used to be that way - I remember a neighbor of mine who got an entire pallet of them delivered one year when I was growing up - and NONE of that crap was legal there.
 
While most of the good fireworks are illegal in Michigan, luckily I am 30 miles from the border. So you can just head over to Indiana and get them.

They actually have some fairly big fireworks places RIGHT OVER the border. They are the first businesses you see off the highway. LOL!

Idiots like this are the reason we have so much regulation and fireworks are banned in several states.

I'm spending the 4th this year in CA so no fireworks for me :(

Last year I went all out - spent about $800 at a wholesaler in Nashville and got some stuff given to me by a friend of a friend, put on a semi-professional show at my grandparents house.

If any of you are looking to really enjoy the 4th by blowing loads of stuff up I strongly suggest you check out Pyro Universe - great forum, has a directory of wholesalers and they do group buys to bring prices even lower. If you're planning on spending >500 this year you should definitely get some price lists from a wholesaler close to you, you'll get a LOT more bang for your buck.
 
Did you know sparklers can explode? True fucking story. One of those bastards blew up in my hand about 10 years ago and the "sparkler" part (the part that looks like concrete I guess) landed all over my arm and wouldn't come off until the "spark" stopped.

Fuck those things.
 
its called drive across state lines and bring it back, or go to a store where they make u sign something saying ur taking it out of state. take it home. make them go bang.
