Just as many of us thought, the Arab Spring will only bring less freedom, less democracy, more pain, etc - especially for women.

When is the U.S. going to learn that we should only help philosophically similar countries (Great Britain, France) and ignore shit going on in every other country no matter how violent?? FUCK!!

Libya's transitional leader declares liberation - Yahoo! News

The transitional government leader Mustafa Abdul-Jalil set out a vision for the post-Gadhafi future with an Islamist tint, saying that Islamic Sharia law would be the "basic source" of legislation in the country and that existing laws that contradict the teachings of Islam would be nullified.

Maybe the US wants a brutal dictator? Kind of the same as Gadhafi, but just one that does what that US says.

Funny thing is that more people will probably be brutalized under the new theocracies that will arise over there. Look at Iran and other Islamic theocracies as the model for how things will likely become.

I'm in support of having U.S. hands completely off the area. Let them rot under their own self-imposed prison - all in the name of their prophet.

It's a nice little circular cycle, to keep the US in war. The US 'frees' a country, essentially imposes Sharia law. They then go invade other countries (think Iran), then leave those countries after 15 years or so, returning to Libya to free them again.

And it repeats.

Don't allow the US government to make you believe they took out Gaddafi for humanitarian reasons. This decision was made soley by Obama. He was lobbied by Hillary, Susan Rice and Samatha Powers to take Gaddafi out. Nato came along for the oil

Who was pulling the strings of Rice and Powers? Soros of course. The reasons are still unclear but what is known is that the Progressive elite is just as power hungry and blood thirsty as the elite on the right.

What really shocked me was watching all the leftist puppets stick their heads in the sand over this (beside Kucinich). If a Republican were to do this they would be shitting, crying and singing in the streets. Killing brown people is fine as long as the one pulling the trigger is a leftist. That's why I don't respect leftist and confront them every chance that I find.

True that. What made me fuckin sick today, after reading the AP article was reading the CNN version of the article which didn't mention the quote about Sharia Law at all. I'm sure it was because it would put Obama in a bad light. The CNN article was almost all sunshine. CNN is like the Fox News of the left.

Btw, I'm mostly liberal, but even liberals don't like criminals or injustice. That's the prob with all of us (left and right voters).. we don't know what fucking information is real and what's bullshit. Bullshit constantly hits us from all angles.. and every time we decide to trust a news source or philosophy we're just taking a big leap of faith.

Damn fine words... I don't trust any source out there anymore. Not a single damn one.

On a very real level, WF's STS is some of the truest world news reporting on the web, and as fucked up as some of the people here are, you can learn to get your notification of world events here better than anywhere else online. (Considering all of the intentional misdirection out there.)

Perhaps that is what Jon was hoping for... To become the next Rupert Murdock? :banana_sml:

No country can immediately change into democracy, it can take years and decades to see some kind of actual change...I wish them the best...there still might be many gaddafi loyalists still in the political background..

You missed the salient points of this thread. People like you are a big part of the problem.

a funny thing is that america is trying to push democracy onto other countries when america itself is a republic, not a democracy.

"and to the republic for which we stand..."

libya wasn't about democracy though. just like iraq, it was about controlling oil prices and providing a new loan/revenue stream for banks.

Really? It's the Christians that did this?

France was not involved? Just the American Christians, eh? Obama's not a Christian - didn't Obama have a hand in this? Exactly which Christians did this?
I bet you're a lot of fun at parties.
