Link Directories, Web 2.0's, and Social bookmarks

I made a thread earlier but I wasn't specific enough.

Can you guys provide direct links to say the top 10 website that come to mind for each of the above categories? (Link directories, web 2.0s, and social bookmarking sites).

I've tried my hand at submitting my articles and website links to the ones that I thought were good, such as diigo, delicious, stumbleupon, reddit, facebook, twitter, then a handful of forums.

I've had SOME success in terms of making money but I just wanted to hear what you guys consider the most effective sites to submit articles to.

just curiously, some/a lot of the links are to blog websites like wordpress, xanga, etc.

In order to best get my money site ranked higher, how would I go about creating backlinks properly to it?

I've heard that a link pyramid works better than a link wheel, but for each of those sites, do I need to just write something/article with some links going back to my main page?

Is there a minimum word limit I have to try and achieve?
