Winnnnnnnndows!

I used Linux in highschool during a summer class. It was alright.

For personal use, windows by far.

Web server, either or... they both work. Just depends on the use, a lot of larger corperations run a lot of .NET or other M$ exclusive applications that require windows.

I'd never use anything other than Apache with cPanel on a dedicated Linux server--unless it was REALLY something special.

I'm using Linux because I need PHP & MySQL support. For home use, though, I've always been using only Windows.

Windows in every way because I'm mainly a .NET Developer.

However, I still use PHP for many of my sites, especially for forums. Due to that fact I still got lots of dedicated Linux Servers running, they're cheaper, too.

Windows server prob got a little more popular after Markus Finch said he runs plentyoffish with it ;)

Linux for sure for servers.

There are still some apps and of course games that Windows is needed for.

I run php and mysql on my window server. that's not an issue.

Linux. No worries about licensing, plenty of readily available open source tools, slightly cheaper to run than windows.

It's not and it is. I'm using shared hosting, and all the hosts I've seen have Asp & Access on Windows and PHP & MySQL on Linux.

Ah, yeah, that's true. PHP is pretty uncommon on shared Windows servers... a lot of them do have mysql though.

I prefer Windows for most of the things like games and surfing the net. I prefer Linux for programming.

linux for hosting, windows for personal, though if I ever get around to it I may set up a linux box at home to play with

Linux because I need it for PHP and MySQL. Besides I really wouldn't trust Windows with my web sites. If the server crashed half as often as my computer does then I would be really screwed, because no one would be able to reach my sites. I would love to switch to Mac, but those things are damn expensive.
