Local advertising

So I'm going to advertise an affiliate offer on a local newspaper because it's cheap and it targets the demographic. Now I've never done any local advertising before, so I'm not sure whether I should buy a domain and redirect to the offer or should I still make a LP? The beauty is that I don't have to worry about the QS.

Second, this is a question to anybody that has done local advertising. Do you guys have any advice? Thanks in advance!

Whether you redirect or make a landing page really depends on the niche you are targeting. Feel free to hit me up on AIM if you want some advice.

You might want to set up an 800 number with a recording to send people to your offer. People that read classifieds are more likely to call then hop on a computer in my opinion.

Some random newspaper tips:

For your domain, get the .com version. It doesn't have to be awesome, but it does need to be memorable.

Get an 800/888 number. They are <$20 a month. Hire a woman to read your pitch. Mention your URL many times in the pitch.

Run the URL and phone number in the ad.

Split 301 refreshing the domain to the offer, and running through a lander.

Consider making your lander just a squeeze page, then hit them up over email with your pitch. Depending on what your advertising, you have just collected some good leads.

Try and haggle down the newspaper reps for your first IO price. But if it's something like $20 for the classified, don't bother. Instead spend the time finding more newspapers for that price.

If you ad does awesome, you can end up with insane conversion rates. Your AM might then ask questions about why you're converting grants/berries at 30%, or why all your leads are from the same geographic area. Or they might be very pleased! If you have a good rapport with them, give them a heads up about what's going on to ensure your payment.
