Hi all, I need a pretty simple widget job done around an existing piece of JS. If you'd like the job or know somebody who would, just say the word. (PM or email alejandropanema@gmail.com)

-----------------------

We have a niche javascript calculator that is very popular. It's currently hard coded into a page on our site, however, after a "soft launch," we've found that quite a few people are interested in putting our widget on their page.

The problem is, as mentioned above, our calculator isn't actually a widget yet. Its just a bunch of on-page javascript. This is a serious problem, because if anyone was sufficiently inclined they could just go into our source code and copy and paste. This is no good because we want OUR links to stay in the calculator. Its free advertising/backlinking for us.

So here is what needs to be done.

#1. The java script needs to be cleaned up and inserted into a separate .js file that is called by an include (or something similar) so that the actual "guts" of the calculator aren't visible to everyone that views the source code (I've been advised that this isn't necessarily the best way to achieve this goal, so I'm all ears if you have a better idea)

#2. Now, calculator guts aside, our calculator features 2 non-javascript embeded links. To be 100% clear, part of the intent of this widget is to build search engine visible links back to our site, so the links themselves cannot be Java scripted. We don't want to give people the opportunity to remove them. I can only think of 2 solutions for this...

a) Have the javascript check that it is immediately preceded by the div/cell that contains the previously mentioned links and display an error if it isn't.

or

b) create a clean line of php/asp for people to insert into their pages, that will automatically serve the HTML links bundled with the JS calculator guts. The problem I see with this is that it leaves static pages unable to use our widget, which is not something I want to do. If you know a workaround, I'm all ears.

I'm open to thoughts/advice on this project. Please let me know if you're interested and how much $$$ you'd like. Otherwise, please send to other interested dev's that aren't bums.

THANKS!
