Hello,

Our corporation is looking for writers to write articles focusing on the MMORPG genre of online video games, who also want to form a long term business relationship with an established company.

A few (of many) possible article content examples include:

1) Basic industry news reporting (the latest content patch for EVE or WoW, or a new FTP game announcement)

2) A review of some in game content (a raid dungeon strategy and general impression, a new class of battleship, or new tanking mechanic)

3) An article focused on class or weapon updates (changes to the rogue class, a new kind of upgradeable weapon in LOTRO)

To work with us at all you will need to sign NDA and Subcontractor's agreements. There are no exceptions to this ever.

What we want are people who can join our long term content producing team, we are taking people now in basic writing postions that should be considered a paid on the job interview, this period will last 2 months, as we separate the wheat from the chaff.

As a basic writer you are competing against everyone else we have recruited to write for the site at the beginning. Basic writers will be paid at $5.00 per 500 words published.

At the end of 2 months we will select our senior writers who will become permanent members of the team, only about 5 writers will join the team permanently, your pay at this point will double to $10.00 per 500 words and there will be many perks, including our company will pay your subscription fees to the many online games you will be reporting on, and you will get the free clothing and promotional materials sent to us by the developers.

Also we are sending one senior writer to Blizzcon 2009 to cover it live.

We have complete power to issue new shares of stock and there is the possibility of equity compensation to our senior writers who stay for one year, and are willing to sign a contract at that point committing to the company. So if you really are good, responsible, and consistent there is the opportunity for profit sharing.

This is not a fly by night operation or college kids looking to get rich quick. We are serious about becoming the number one general MMORPG community, and have financial backing to make it happen.

The same team owning this corporation has had great success establishing several now self sustaining and profitable companies, although this will be the team's first online-only venture. We have a team that consists also of lawyers and CPAs, keep meticulous records, and do things by the book. If this bothers you don't apply.

If you want a paid on the job interview (a basic writer position) publishing at the site please send me a PM. If you think you have the resume and portfolio to immediately warrant a senior writer position please forward that as well.

The community will go live approximately May 1st 2009, and we will be taking basic writers onto the team with no limit until then.

This process may be repeated on a smaller scale as the company brings other communities focusing on other interests online over the next two years.

Thank you for reading and good luck. :)

Hello. I want thank everyone for the PMs. I will try to answer some of the questions here.

We do not require a resume or portfolio of any kind to become a basic writer and take one of these "try out" positions. All you have to do is sign the NDA and Subcontractor's agreements and start submitting content. The content you submit over the first month will be your interview. We know already there will be many more people submitting content the first month than we can offer a permanent position to. At this point in the process you will be paid $5.00 per 500 words published. It is possible you will submit content that is so bad it is rejected and not paid.

Once we have had the chance to sample a few articles from everyone during the try-out period the positions for the permanent writing team will be offered at $10.00 per 500 words with the additional perks (nothing like getting to participate in your favorite video game hobby for free and then get paid!). Most other applicants will be let go who do not produce the level of professional quality we are looking for. But if you make the team, yes we will pay your Everquest or Warcraft monthly fees in addition to your writing work. All payments will be made on company checks, on the last day of every month.

The things we will watch: proper grammar, spelling, formatting, real knowledge and enthusiasm for the subject matter, appropriate sense of humor, entertainment value, combined with a knowledge of SEO and keywords.

There will be a large conference call for all writer try-outs before we go live where our expectations will be discussed in more depth, also you will be able to ask questions.
Please post your current questions in this thread, or even if you just send an interest PM, post here because it is going to help me keep track of everyone.
Many thanks - and again this is work that will start around May 1st, with the permanent positions offered June 1st-15th.

Yes if you are invited to join the final team we will pay for your MMO subscription fees. People keep asking this but actually the money you make writing will be much more than that anyway.

For some reason though the idea of playing for free must be striking people as very appealing because almost everyone has asked about this specifically.

Thanks for all the responses and good luck.

I do endgame raiding in Everquest, and I only raid three times a week for around three to four hours a night. People who raid 6-7 days a week for 5-6 hours a night are sick in the head. I'm sure some people who don't play MMO's at all would say the same about me, though.

Anyone want to encourage my site designers to hurry up? :p

One of them worked on this site btw.

Anyway - If you play MMOs that is a point in your favor and as Supergeek said - very few people play 6-7 days a week.

But if you already have interest in the genre it just tends to show through in your writing.

I have received some samples from people who obviously have never played an MMO in their life and it shows a bit. Knowledge of SEO and good command of the English language can overcome this.

Want to emphasize you can make our final team without MMO experience - it just means you may have a little more research necessary to create content that our target audience will find enjoyable.

A good and appropriate sense of humor is a huge plus.

We continue to take new people until this thing goes live - if we get to 25 or something we may cap it there, but currently only about halfway there.

Please don't hesitate to sign up if you need/want writing work.

Again this work will start in earnest around June 1st. We take good care of our team members. :)

I am a professional freelance writer with a focus on the MMORPG niche. I have also been an avid gamer since the Ultima Online beta in 1997 and have played a multitude of MMORPGs throughout the years.

I have worked as a professional power leveler for World of Warcraft as well serving 4 years as the guild leader for a hard core server-first oriented end-game raiding guild (one of those sick people who raided 5 hours a night 6 nights a week :costumed-smiley-015).

I am currently playing WoW and Darkfall as well as writing for my blog Darkfalling: Are you ready for Darkfall Online? and working on a couple of projects for Killer Guides. I have written about gaming for other online sources and have a knowledge of general SEO writing as well as writing content specifically for gamers.

I am definitely interested in this opportunity. Please contact me at your earliest convenience. My email address is mjclark505@gmail.com.
