Hey guys, I wanted to reach out and let you guys know that my partner and I are bringing the first ever digital marketing conference into the Continent of Africa. This is going to be a huge event and the purpose of this post is to reach out to the people in the marketing industry to look for partnerships. My job is to handle all of the online presence including marketing, branding etc etc. I am looking to connect with a few people to bring on board who can bring some insight and deep understanding as to what makes digital marketing conferences such as ad tech become so successful, which is where my skill set lacks. We already have a huge team assembled, online and off but like I stated before I am looking for someone to bring some serious knowledge about what makes successful conferences tick, also benefiting us in getting sponsors and exhibitors. Which should not be difficult because Africa is an un tapped market and has plenty of marketing companies, which may surprise some. I know reaching out to WF may not be the most reliable source, but you never know until you try. Africa? Really? It's hard enough for anyone living in Africa to get approved for Anything.

I wish you all the best but that is probably the hardest continent besides Antarctica to do something like this. Would be much easier to just start another con in any of the other continents even with the amount there already are.

Also your location says Orange County, why are you interested in doing this? Just because nobody has done it before for Africa? Where are you planning on setting this up at? I assume South Africa because what other country would you even consider doing this in and that is going to be the farthest convention for anyone based in the US, Europe or Asia to fly out to.

Also make sure you have lots and lots of money. You will most likely be paying for the majority of setting this entire thing up the first or second time before anyone even sees it as a reliable con. If you do have lots of money and manage to get some great people out there (You will probably have to pay some industry veterans to come and speak and make the con actually look legitimate) you may actually have a chance of being successful. But you are still going to lag behind every other continent that runs these kinds of cons because hey it's still Africa.

.... Good luck. It is a noble goal and I hope you are able to do it. Africa needs more people like you who are willing to invest in things like this to move that continent forward but just be aware that it is going to be very difficult.
 
Penguin, I appreciate your support. Well honestly Africa has a larger market in terms of marketing then you think. keep in mind of all the Arabic countries that are considered apart of Africa as well, i.e Egypt, Morocco etc etc. Yes I reside in OC but my partner was born and raised in Africa. Yes majority of the companies attending will of course be located in Africa. Of course there is a chance of this being successful, also when I state it will be easy because it is an un tapped market I mean in terms of competing with other conferences in the US which have already been secured by ad-tech, AS, SMX etc etc. I absolutely understand the difficulty of the task at hand. We definitely have access to funds and have a good marketing strategy in place to hit Africa hard. If you have any other recommendations or advice I would love to hear it. Thanks again.
