You guys aren't going to believe me anyway, so I'll just link you directly to the freaking US Congress bill:

H.R. 6566

Tl;dr: Bill in committee right now that gives DHS control of FEMA during "mass fatality planning, and for other purposes."

:glowingeyes_sml:

I ain't theorizing SHIT.

YOU GUYS try NOT to make a conspiracy out of this one, I dare you.

And Extra points for NOT mentioning that DHS has recently purchase enough hollowpoint bullets to kill every last citizen in the USA ten times over. (Oops, no extra points for me.)

Fuck this country acts suspicious!

This bill has a 1% chance of being enacted. The following factors were considered:
The sponsor is a member of the minority party. (-2%)
Just 4% of all House bills in 2009–2010 were enacted.

You know why I like you lukep? Because you post stuff like this without giving a fuck. No matter how crazy or ludicrous you may seem, your like that crazy grandpapa that comes to the odd family dinner and blurts out random points of view. And no matter how much we try to ignore it, we still love. Thank you for being my wicked fire granddad. I shall pay it forward when I'm older and I talk to my kids about you. Carry on my good friend and fuck you bluechinagroup man because your pov is irrelevant

But WHY dude, why was it submitted?

Chances are just playing politics... We all know that bribery skews chances, so those numbers are a better indicator of whether or not peter pan can really fly. -The only question here is WHY would they think to do such a thing?

Because congress is full of idiots who are constantly trying to win re-election, most bills aren't even written with the intent of getting passed. They're written with language that allows the congressman/woman to go back to their district and say "I introduced legislation to ban porn/stop terrorists/feed the poor/stop greedy bankers but my opponent didn't so vote for me" - even if it's a direct violation of existing laws or the constitution. All that matters is that the base is pleased and your donors keep writing checks.

These paranoid FEMA camp stories have been coming out since hurricane Katrina, I'm still waiting...

Bills like this have been introduced for years. This isn't the first time this has come up, or the delusion that DHS or FEMA are going to start rounding up citizens into camps or have mass detention centers.

The rep who introduced this is a nobody from Long Beach. Is there a strong military presence or some other entity that would benefit from such action? Two obvious "mass fatality" areas affecting LA are 1) earthquakes and 2) riots. Maybe 3) tsunami.

I don't know much about all of the FEMA camp conspiracies, just that they did a shitty job of "helping" during Katrina and they have a penchant for buying up a lot of real estate on our tax dollars. (Or imminent domain?)

However what makes this bill stick out like a purple, quadruple-jointed thumb to me is that someone, somewhere, wanted to put DHS, the guys who "protect us from terrists" in charge of FEMA for mass body bagging during what I am supposed to assume is a natural disaster.

Why DHS guys? Unless they are expecting Mass deaths due to Terrorism, it's a wholly illogical, unexplainable thing to even think of in the first place... Kind of like a junior Rep introducing a bill to shoot down anything hovering over our skies that is shaped like an accordian with a purple bowtie.

It's simply UNCALLED for.

I can't be the only one who finds this suspicious, can I?

You do realize that FEMA was reorganized in 2003 to be a sub-agency of the Department of Homeland Security, right?

I'm not even sure this bill does *anything* that DHS can't already do.

Really? Sauce, plz.

If that's the case, then finally I can free up this nagging portion of my mind... Thanks.

Hurp derp another knee jerk LukeP post. Nice work showing your ignorance of the legislative process Luke. Blows my mind anyone takes this idiot seriously.

What part of his posts showed ignorance to the legislative process? Blows my mind how rudimentary your grasp of the legislative process is.

Because he is assuming this junk bill has any chance of passing? Or that it'll even be put up for a vote in one of the houses? Oh my bad, LukeP is just being an attention whore as usual and once again is making a mountain out of an ant hill.
