Okay so I woke up and noticed on one of my ppc campaigns hadn't converted.. checked my network and I see half the clicks are missing compared to what the traffic source reports. So I go to the site and notice my server was down.. this was odd, so I look around some more.

i had about 90 emails saying so-and-so process failed. I contacted support and they told me the cause was one of my other scripts was overflowing, which I didn't understand because that's not the nature of the script to do that (its fairly simple), but I looked into it.. didn't see anything wrong.

Finally he rebooted my server and I logged into prosper, and I see about 5x as many clicks than what should be there.. at this point i know someone is doing some form of ddos (not sure if thats the right term in this exact case.. regardless they're sending a fuckton of unique traffic through a botnet or something directly to my prosper link).

I halted the traffic, and just for a test, I unhalted it (no actual traffic is running), sure enough... after 10 seconds I get 100 or so unique clicks in prosper within a 10 second period and the support rep is like yeaaahhhh server load is massively increasing.

How the fuck do I stop these faggots? I take it there really isn't a way cause these bitches can't take competition.. I'm considering just removing prosper, if they want to send fake traffic so be, but at least prosper won't be overloading the server. Then again they may just directly ddos the server?

Any ideas...

did you jack someones campaign? I can't picture someone doing this over competition, for someone to go through that much trouble you had to have pissed them off A LOT..

nope, didnt jack someones campaign. it was because the one i made from scratch out performed theirs a lot, and pushed them way down in ranking, and i took lots of their trafficshare

It did have a few competitors in seedy countries though, where its "easily" accessible to perform attacks like that
