In case you missed it, the Gallup folks actually mapped the 'real' bible belt in the United States. It looks something like this:

Who knew Michigan was so religious? I expected it to be blank.

Utah- scammy and uberelgious. Coincidence? Hrm.

I've been living in Tennessee now for a few months, having just moved from Washington State. It is fanatic religious here. Always, the fist question out of anyones mouth is, "You saved?" or "What church do you attend?". When you ask how someone is doing, they answer, "Blessed in the Lord!". It's crazy. I get preached at all the time. The religious folks even preach at each other, loudly, and say things like "Amen!" and "Praise Him!" when someone agrees with what is being said.

Nothing like Washington State, where everyone is a Pagan, Wiccan or a New Age Nutter.

Eh? Apparently you haven't been too many places on the West Side of michigan. And from my experience the god-knows-how-many-fucking-church-sites-I-did (and they have no problem trying to use their 'godliness' to try to barter a lower price), I'd expect it to be a bit above average.

All I see is a chart of the states that unite to win the next civil war.

For Michigan, I'd guess it's because of northern michigan(hillbillys) and western michigan (Amway+religious; essentially utah. The owner was almost our governor)

Thank god that didn't happen. I live in the Detroit area and don't find all that many overly religious people in the SE region. The west side of the state is predominantly Republican though and very religious... freaks if you ask me.

Looks like the Catholic priests cleaned up New England FTW.

LOL

I wish they would make a map of those of us that are "secularly spiritual" vs. none. In other words, those that aren't church go-ers or part of the "bible belt culture" but still subscribe to beliefs.

The problem is that alot of spiritually-minded people don't have much in common with the mainstream religious individuals so it's just easier to associate with the non-religious who for the most part don't have an issue with you and your spiritual beliefs as long as you don't try to convert them (which is fine by me!....)

Another war that would cost the lives of Millions of Americans (we lost more souls from the civil war than any war we've been involved with, including WWII) and be the joy of our foreign enemies - are you looking forward to this??

HAHA. Which is worth? Why on earth would anyone leave a beautiful place like Washington State for Tennesee - must have taken along time to get your visa to enter that part of the world ---HAHAH

lol @ jizz

You know, whenever I see those gigantic cleavage banners (for some reason I tend to scroll backwards through threads) I know I'm in for a laugh.

Agreed. I'm from Detroit and have done design work for several "religious" people, groups, organizations and they all try to guilt you into doing the work for nothing. Sorry - I'm an atheist, that shit don't work on me.

Michigan is a big state, and the Detroit area is nothing like the rest of the state. As mentioned already, West side of the state (Grand Rapids area) is like another planet, and Northern Michigan as well. Plus, don't forget even in Detroit we have a HIGH population of blacks who almost all consider themselves to be religious. So I don't see the surprise there.

More like the Bible Splotch. I see that Alaska turned out to be not as religious as Sarah Palin and her freaky church affiliations made it appear.

Yeah, I recently moved from a "Less Religious" state to a "More Religious" state. I'm a little nauseated by how entitled people feel to discuss churchy things with someone they just met (me). And the gross assumptions they make, which, if shown to be incorrect, pretty much kill any possibility of them associating with you in the future.

Death toll wouldn't be so large in another conflict. It would be over fairly quick. Just remember what part of the country a large percentage of the military hail from.

Uh yeah. That's what the South said the first time.
