Maybe I'm stupid, but why don't rebills make reasonable recurring charges?

Instead of charging $189.99 a few days after the order, why don't they do a $30-40/mo recurring charge. It costs $3 to make a bottle of diet pills. Seems like you would have:

1. More customers staying longer
2. Less chargebacks/risks
3. Less chance of lawsuits
4. More trusting/loyal customers to upsell to later

Or am I just retarded?

Edit: another idea. Maybe even offer like $5/mo to affiliates in revshare for each customer for as long as they stay. Seems like that would get a BUTTLOAD of affiliates.

Probably because on average they get higher lifetime customer value out of it and can be competitive with their payouts and EPCs affiliates get.

Simply put, it makes more money faster.

most of these people find out the product is crap once they get the free trail. They probably only get 1-2 charges off before the people realize whats going on. If they only hit em for 30-40$ then affiliates would probably only get paid 10-20$

Maybe you retards should just stfu. Jesus its like your brain dead. The regulators are fine with it, why are you asking uncomfortable questions on a public forum, so JUST STFU. Lets see:

Uber got everyone into affiliate marketing with dem dere True screenshots
Everyone outed Facebook's change of policy into approving everything
Outing beckysweightlossblog, outing grants, outing chedda
Now your bragging about how Jesse didnt get hit at all with 1.6 million fine.

You fuckin retards are FUCKING braindead. Just STFU

wat.

What wat? Why is this retard asking rhetorical questions? The reason they charge is because the merchant account providers and regulators are fine with it. Now just stfu or run your own offers

Maybe he should email FTC asking why haven't you indicted me for wire fraud yet?

Cracker was wondering if these reasons were good enough for somebody to charge less:
1. More customers staying longer
2. Less chargebacks/risks
3. Less chance of lawsuits
4. More trusting/loyal customers to upsell to later

Lawsuits is only 1 of those reasons.

Calm down bro.

haha totally forgot about chedda. That kid was flossin! He knew everything about grants. Kid was boss!

TBH, its probably is a good idea, but rebills haven't ever been run by technically sophisticated persons that really invested in tracking and optimizing. I mean what do you expect from people who steal the same Optimum landing page for months at a time. Maybe they will, why would they though?

How the fuck does anyone thing talking about marketing shit on an internet forum is OUTING shit?

The fucking adverts are everywhere. The court details are all over FTC homepage and the rest of the marketing media. The media exposes on the big players are on national television. Ripoffreport.com is a massive SERP hungry indicator of shady shit that's getting away with it.

People screaming "stop outing shit" > Go eat a bullet.

Either way people would most likely take it as a loss since most people who buy this shit are half retarded anyway. "Oh well, they got me on one charge. I deserved it but glad I canceled when I did!"

That's not a bad question actually. A lot of people don't know the history of rebills if they haven't been around more than 4 or 5 years.

Rebills, as we know them in the recent affiliate marketing space, charge so much so quickly in order to be able to pay out on such crappy overall traffic and get paid while they still have a merchant account which is something the advertiser always kind of expects to disappear at some point.

So this situation creates a sort of a "get it while you can" type of thinking. This business has a lot of shady people on both the publisher and advertiser side so this is kind of a combination problem thanks to everyone's activity in the value chain.

Not all rebills are that way. You can find plenty of rebill programs that have been around for more than 5 years that charge standard actual retail bottle cost rebill rates like $49.95 and will pay a publisher 24.97 or 29.97 on each rebill for life.

We're working on launching a new offer for a workout supplement. It is a bottle of pills, but we don't have crazy recurring charges. We're still deciding on a few methods to promote this (i.e. big bottle, blister packs, smaller bottles, etc...), but right now we have a bottle with 90 pills for a free 2 week trial with a $1.90 charge and if you decide to keep the bottle you pay $39.95 if you decide you don't like it just return the unused portion of the bottle and be charged nothing.

I think moving away from continuity allows publishers to worry less about getting chargebacks and getting kicked off offers for high attrition rates. All the pubs need to worry about is driving a sale. The only way you won't get credit is if the person has no money on their card.

This thread is not outing any new subjects. And 'realistic' rates per month depends on the demo you're providing to. Also, not all of the products are crap, so that's false. flyscare is making a point based on some known people. There are plenty of advertisers out there.

Good luck with that. Unless you are promoting it yourself you are going to lose a ton of cash. Paying a network $40 or so to promote your offer you are going to need a HUGE retention rate just to break even.

That's part of the problem with the rebill issue as well. Why the hell does everyone think int he network mentality when it comes to products. It's possible to run your own in house aff program for products with no problem at all.

Sure, the publishers have to sign up to a few more sites, but guys with a lot of traffic have no problem with this. I sure never had a problem with it. If I saw a product that kept popping up in ads in multiple places it always made me hunt for the main company and their "Affiliates" link.
