Could someone briefly help me get the precision match of MediaTraffic right?
I don't think my english is that bad (2nd language though), but sometimes it lacks for little details like that.
Tried asking Jimmy (my rep) but like some bot he just kept sending me the helpfile (which I already read) as well as pasting related sections from the FAQ (which I also went through), so needless to say that I'm still not really sure which precision match does what.
Examples are always the easiest thing to illustrate something, so let's say we have the following URL's:
verylongexample.com/folder/index.html?somestuff
verysuperlongexample.com/folder/index.html
(red=40 characters)
As MT only allows 40 chars per URL, would my ad still be displayed, if I bid on those above URL's (the red part of them) with "complete URL"?
Obviously, nobody is going to visit "...index.ht" as it doesn't exist. I thought that when I bid on a URL like that my ad will only be triggered if the EXACT (nothing more, nothing less) is in the users browser bar...or am I wrong?
Because what confuses me is that even though this seems to be MT's way of targeting a URL, their interface also says "use this if you want to trigger your ad if the target is anywhere in the URL".
Well I don't want it to trigger anywhere (that would be "verylongexample.com" already, right?) but only the complete URL. wtf am I missing here?
And on a more general note: When is it suggested to use the query/no query string option?
Sorry to have this post so long winded, but I tried to express what is going on in my head so maybe someone can spot the part where I'm messing it up. Appreciate every useful comment, thanks
