I think if more people realized that when the industry gets bigger, everyone profits, they would be less reticent to share their knowledge. In other words 1% of a $1Billion industry is still more than 100% of a $100,000 niche you may dominate. This idea leads to my suggestion:
I would like to see a "Member of the Month" process. Each month, names could be submitted and the selection would be based on a set of criteria that you WF heads decide on or that the community votes on. I think these should be serious criteria like professional generosity, citizenship, online integrity, etc. but also if the guy (or girl) just put something absolutely hysterical in the Shooting the Shit category which is an online classic, give them props for that too...
So each month, everyone submits his or her votes and the WF member is selected based on that vote. Instead of giving the person money, they could have a donation made in their name at their favorite charity or nonprofit. For instance, if they love art a donation could be made in their name to The Met or Moma, if they are very patriotic, the USO, if they love their dogs, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, etc., etc. Incidentally, the donations could be make in the form of "Wickedfire, Inc on behalf of XYX person" which would also have some side benefits of branding the company in the right circles (ever notice how PBS events always seem to mention Ford, GM or <insert name of Blue Chip company>?)
Another idea would be that the person gets a free month's pass to any private section of the forum.
At the end of the year, the WF "Member of the Year" could be selected, a press release could go out and the person feels good, the company gets more exposure, people get tax right-offs, the community is enhanced and everyone lives happily and more wealthily every after
I would like to start by nominating HENDOG who have given me some great advice and if I had to nominate a second person, SEO_Mike too. For sure.
