The real El Chapo may or may not have been arrested in my city.

News from The Associated Press

Speculation is that it isn't really him, but from the look of the nose it looks like it is.

I was watching spanish news earlier and they said DNA tests were under way but that they found him after raiding some of his associates and ex wife and that they were the ones that gave him up. The fallout this from should be interesting, who know how many politicians, police, and army officials Guzman had on the payroll. Not to mention there's now a power vacuum.

Just watched the segment on Univision in spanish where they paraded him. The looks of him now look a bit questionable but it's highly likely that it was him.

Mexican government said they caught El Chapo, 16 high rank criminals who protected him, more than 60 vehicles (around 15 were bullet-proof), 16 houses and 4 ranches. All without firing a single bullet.

Either we have the best freaking intelligence service in the world, or this is a pre-fabricated bullshit. When you live in Mexico you realize that when things like this happen, normally there's something hiding in the shadows.

BTW, this is part of the "Obama effect".

The ironic thing is that if they have captured him, it'll create more crime, because there'll be a power vacuum (both internally, and other cartels seeing it as weakness & chance to expand). It's pretty meaningless really.

If you want to stop these guys the way to do it is to destroy the black market that funds them.
