I think this will be the next huge thing. Maybe 2-5 years off. Google just made a huge purchase and they are going to market this big time. Plus with the iphone and new phones coming out, they will compete with lap tops and blackberry's as the preferred way to access the internet on the mobile.
There are a lot of ways to look at marketing to mobile. I have looked in to sending text messages as advertisements, it works but you can get in a lot of trouble if you spam and dont have permission. The eCPMS are huge but the risks are huge as well if you dont have a full opt in
Every now and then I receive a spam SMS (text message as they're called in the U.S.) on my cellphone. It's been going on here for years already but I still think it is in its infancy. The potential is big but as mentioned above, the risks are big as well. Gotta think outside the box...
Is Mobile marketing really going to be around for that long? Phones are getting better by the minute and more and more of them have pretty good web browsers. Rather than advertisers having to reach out to mobile users for very long, mobile users will continue to upgrade their technology and eventually, the majority will browse the net as if they were at a computer.
Interesting.
At the moment I am writing my Bachelor Thesis about:
Permission Marketing can develop long-term relationships with customers, create trust and build brand awareness. How the Web 2.0 does supports permission marketing and can state-of-the-art wireless technologies improve customer experience outside the web?
