Has anyone used Moniker's domain escrow service recently?

I'm getting ready to list some sites/domains on Flippa and researching payment/transfer options.

After some searching of the forums... it seems that people say there is a major flaw with Escrow.com that leaves the seller unprotected. I see some recommendations for Moniker... but the posts are fairly old. Another recommendation was to use Sedo.com for the transfer.

If you sold a site/domain recently, how did you complete the transfer/payment?

Thanks.

I should have posted this in domains section.

Redhead tits for the mistake:

I always use Escrow.com when I sell domains and haven't run into any problems.

I use namecheap.com and have the buyer get an account there. Push the domain to their account but make them generate a one-time auth code that you will need to be able to push the domain to their account.

They can't deny they have the domain because the only way to push the domain is with that auth code.

Another tip if you're using escrow.com is CC'ing escrow.com your email conversations with the buyer/seller.

You will not have any problems. Most scammers won't have anything to do with escrow if they are trying to burn you.

I've used them a few times, the last time being about 6 months ago and the service has always been great. If you're selling high value domains you'll want to use them over escrow because as Unarmed Gunman said they put both the domain and the money in escrow so you get much better protection as a seller. I won't point out how, but there are several ways a seller could get screwed on escrow.com and be left with nothing.

It looks like Moniker is the best option.

Escrow.com seems fine for when you are the buyer.

Sedo is fine for when you are selling domain through them... but I've seen complaints about using their escrow service.

Not sure about ecop.com... website seems kind of dated.

Thanks for the replies.

The problem with Escrow.com is they don't hold the domain in escrow, just the money.

I've been very uneasy about that before.

Luckily, I've had no problems in a few transactions with escrow.com, but Moniker seems so much safer for a seller. I've done transactions there and slept better.

I happened to randomly run across this while researching escrow services for myself, and thought I should update this, as I no longer want to be on record recommending Moniker, and I'd feel like a giant shit-head if someone researched Moniker here and let my post steer them in that direction.

Moniker was acquired by KeyDrive recently, and they no longer have an escrow service.

Not only that, but they took it upon themselves to change an entire interface that wasn't even broken. They've become such a giant clusterfuck in so many ways, I don't even want to hold existing domains there anymore.

It's not as bad as the Registerfly debacle, but I would surely not do new business with Moniker.
