Looking to expand my command center with a new center piece.

Looking for a new pretty monitor, there's so many on the market these days and I thought the best input would be from the successful WF members with monitor tans ;)

Price isn't really an issue though I'd like to keep it below $300

So far my favorite is the Acer S243HL but I'm years behind the technology advances and would appreciate your opinions.

Thanks

when buying tech stuff, usually i end up getting what's on sale if i'm on a budget, and what I want when there isn't a budget. I found a 24 inch LED monitor last month for $235 out the door, didn't look back and just bought it. I think it was LG, and the newest model. Getting work done, and not wasting time shopping was +Money. Also if you play games don't forget to shoot for 2ms.

Dell's new IPS displays don't get a recommendation from me. I just got a pair of Dell U2211Hs and they both have tinting issues. The left of the screen is warm while the right is cool.

This is apparently really common with IPS monitors at the moment due to shit QC at LG/Phillips.

Samsung PX2370 LED looks like a winner.

I was looking for a new 24" monitor... but fuck its hard to decide. I gave up.

They have these new panel types called 'IPS' which have better viewing angles, better colour reproduction blah blah blah, but they're darn expensive. TN (twisted nematic) is the regular type of panel used in most monitors.

Then you've got the LED backlights and the regular CCFL backlights. Apple monitors are IPS with LED backlights and hence look amazing, but are like $1400 for 24".

Never thought about looking at Dell...

DELL ST2410 24-inch Full HD Widescreen Monitor : Computer Components | Dell Canada

A known brand 24inch for 199 seems like a respectable deal.

As for IPS's I don't think they're in my budget yet around this size.

That Samsung gets good reviews...

But ya I'll probably just impulse buy something or I'll be looking at monitors for weeks.

That Dell is mediocre. Doesn't raise/lower swivel or rotate... only tilts. Specs are also a bit "meh" with 5ms refresh but unlike other cheapos, it does give you a full range of inputs which is good

The only Dells worth buying IMO are the Ultrasharps. They are excellent monitors. Most of their other cheap monitors will be outperformed by other name brands.

Get the Samsung.

I have the earlier variant, Samsung P2350 and it's really very good with the 2ms refresh.

I'm also in the same boat, shopping monitors. There are so many options and no clear winner.

I want good connectivity and I don't want a TN panel because color accuracy and viewing angle is important.

I hear LED are more relaxing and since I spend hours in front of the monitor everyday that's also important.

Are there any good IPS/LED displays other than the apple ones?

the problem with cheap 24" is there all fucking 1920x1080. who the fuck wants that resolution for their main monitor.

Wow, is this 32:10 widescreen posted above available on free markets? I checked eBay Germany and Amazon.com but didn't found anything like that. That one looks crazy. Anyone knows more about these crazy widescreens?

I'm waiting for UPS to deliver this monitor: [ame=http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002ZVCGXQ/]Amazon.com: ASUS MS238H - 23-Inch Wide LED Monitor: Computer & Accessories[/ame]

I'll let you know how I like it. Amazon peeps spoke pretty highly about it.
